― The movie's pinup.
What starts with a really nice climate of doubt rapidly shows its will to not go anywhere while waiting to deliver its big finale. Not only is the movie barely busy but it is also barely able to go from one scene to the next.
Luckily, some slight attempts at humour work more or less and it kinda pulls itself back up (while mumbling an incoherent story) a bit before its grand grotesque spectacle.
But nothing makes sense, from the way the hero is treated by the others, the fact one of the "other species" families breed were farming a regular child for later sucking, the side-changing-for-love executed by the pin-up looking "other" woman, the fact the early scenes with her are played like it's a trap (some change in the middle of filming?), the affliction of her mother (who, in theory, is like her).
The only "quality" this film has for itself is the final make-up special effects filled (horror) scene. Wich is worth watching.
The acting is what you can expect from that kind of low production, the technicals (aside from the above mention) too.
Still nice from Yuzna to have made a film with a little speech, I guess.
Score: 4/10
Enjoyment: 3/5
There's no reason to be that tolerant with movies like this when they take themselves seriously enough.
PS: I couldn't stop thinking I was hearing a stronger voiced J.Fox everytime the main actor opened his mouth.
