S1 E1 • La disparition

Sydney, 1988. L’Église catholique est en ébullition. L’Opus Dei veut mettre fin au vent de modernité et de réformes prônées par le concile Vatican II. Dans ce contexte d’extrêmes tensions religieuses, le psychiatre Tom Allen, catholique pratiquant, père de deux enfants et veuf depuis peu, accepte la proposition du cardinal de recevoir en consultation des prêtres déboussolés par cette crise. Au fil des séances, il se rend compte que l’Église tente d’étouffer un scandale lié à la disparition d’un enfant. Cette révélation pourrait bien ébranler la foi et les convictions de Tom.
