- "Je l’ai vu quand il est ressorti en Angleterre suite au succès de Star Wars et de la mode « science-fiction ». Mon père nous a emmené mon frère et moi à Leicester Square, ou l’on peut trouver les plus grands cinémas de Londres. Je me rappelle très clairement avoir été transporté dans un autre monde. J’étais un très grand fan de Star Wars à cette époque. Mais c’était une toute autre approche de la science-fiction. J’avais sept ans, donc je ne pouvais pas prétendre avoir compris le film. Je ne peux toujours pas le prétendre. Mais à sept ans, je me fichais de comprendre le film. J’ai juste eu cette sensation extraordinaire d’être emporté dans un autre monde. Tu ne doutais pas de ce monde un seul instant. Il était d’une qualité plus grande que nature."

- "Even to a nine-year-old Star Wars fanatic this seemed pretty uneven, but some of the special effects still impress, and it boasts one of the most unexpectedly weird climaxes in cinema history. I actually had to rent it as an adult just to check that I hadn't made up the whole ending."
