S1 E2 Micawber and the Theatre

Life is looking up for eternal optimist Micawber - his lodger's rent has enabled him to pay off most of his debts, little orphan Alice is settling in with the family and Babbitt has got him a job as stage manager on his latest theatrical production. However, there is still one cloud on the financial horizon, namely money-lender Ezra, who once more dispatches his dim-witted henchman Ismail in an effort to recover his money. But when the thug confronts our hero, no one could predict the surprise outcome of their showdown. David Jason stars in part two of John Sullivan's light-hearted drama series based on the character created by Charles Dickens, with Annabelle Apsion, Mark Benton, Jamie Foreman and Adrian Hood.

Micawber Meets the Americans

S1 E3 Micawber Meets the Americans

The impoverished gent is arrested for his debts and prosecuted in court by his own brother-in-law, as a result of which he gets thrown into prison. But just when it seems things cannot get any worse, his debts are paid off by a grateful former client who employs him to entertain two American businessmen on the London leg of their European tour. In typical fashion, Micawber throws himself into the task and draws up an itinerary of museums and theatre - but he soon discovers the duo are more interested in dens of vice.
