Knowing How!

S3 E1 Knowing How!

Caillou learns the value of determination and the benefits of success in this Caillou episode. Skating Lessons: When Mom drives Sarah to her skating lesson, Caillou decides he wants to take skating lessons too! But the lessons are harder than Caillou expected, and if it weren't for the neato Zamboni, Caillou might not have gone back. But the second lesson proves to be a lot of fun, and Caillou gets a ride on the Zamboni too! (Additional Lessons: Learning That Sometimes Things Aren't As Hard As You Thought.) Where I Live: When an invitation for Clementine's party accidentally ends up at Sarah's, Caillou learns the differences between the addresses of the two homes. Daddy helps by making up a rhyme. Caillou learns his address, and is able to recite it back to Clementine. (Additional Lessons: Learning About The Physical Relationship Of Where You Live As It Relates To The Outside World.) Just Like Me: When Clementine tells Caillou how much she likes her older brother, Billy, to teach her things, Caillou sets out to teach something to Rosie. But this proves harder than Caillou thought, until Mom suggests he try the A-B-C song! (Additional Lessons: Learning To Help Others.) Just In Time: When Caillou's dawdling causes he, Mom and Rosie to be late going to the park, they end up missing Leo. So Dad suggests they make a game out of not dawdling, by using an egg timer for Caillou to race against when he gets ready for bed. This time, Caillou isn't distracted, and now has time to have three stories read to him! (Additional Lessons: Learning About Being On Time And How It Affect Others.) In one segment, Caillou learns that he lives at 17 Pine St. when a letter addressed to him is mistakenly delivered to his next-door neighbor Sarah. In other segments, Caillou learns to ice skate and attempts teaching the alphabet to his little sister Rosie. Beginning with this episode, there is only one puppet segment and it features Rexy forming a band. Rexy is looking for musicians and instruments and he manages to get Teddy and Gilbert to join his band, although at first Gilbert won't join right away, as he's busying practicing his tai-chi. He comes up with a name for them, "Rexy's Rock Band" and chooses the trumpet for himself to play. When Rexy tries to play the trumpet at first, it sounds awful and he believes the instrument to be broken. The puppets tell him that he just needs to learn how to play and practice. Rexy tries again and is still awful, so he wants to give up. Gilbert says that he had trouble with tai-chi at first, but the important thing is to not give up and keep practicing. Rexy finally gets a good note and he puts it together with Gilbert and Teddy to make a nice song. He figures that they'll soon be touring the neighborhood. In the Caillou segments, Caillou is learning how to do all sorts of things and he even gets some chances to pass some of his knowledge onto others. "Where I Live" Caillou is drawing sidewalk pictures when his Daddy asks him for help. He wants Caillou to help him drive a wheelbarrow of dirt to the flower garden. After Caillou helps Daddy with this, Sarah from next door calls him over to her house. She says that she got a letter for Caillou. It was addressed incorrectly and so ended up coming to her. It said 15 Pine Street, Sarah's address. Caillou's is 17 Pine Street. Sarah shows Caillou that she's created a helpful rhyme to remember her address. Daddy helps Caillou to come up with his own rhyme to remember 17 Pine Street. Sarah draws a 17 onto Caillou's sidewalk picture of his house and inside, Caillou uses refrigerator magnets to make the number 17. Mommy opens Caillou's letter and they find that it's an invitation to Clementine's birthday party, that Saturday at one. She has Caillou call Clementine's house to confirm the invitation and also to pass on the correct address. Caillou talks to Clementine's Mom and uses the rhyme he learned to tell her his correct address. Then, Clementine's Mom puts Clementine on the phone and Caillou tells her that he's coming to her party. "Skating Lessons" Caillou is outside, pretending to fly a box airplane. Sarah shows up, as Caillou's Mommy is taking her to go figure skating. Caillou doesn't understand this, as it's summer and he believes that you can only skate in winter. He doesn't know about indoor arenas. When Caillou, Sarah and Mommy arrive at the arena, Caillou doesn't understand why there are people wearing ice skates indoors. Mommy shows Caillou that they have special indoor ice that won't melt because they keep everything very cold. Caillou sees Sarah skating and wonders if he can skate too. Sarah suggests that Caillou take lessons. Caillou asks his Mommy if he can. A few days later, they return to the arena for Caillou's first lessons. They meet, George, the skating instructor. Caillou joins the other young students on the ice and he wonders if his Mommy is going to come with him, but his Mommy says that she'll just watch him from the sidelines, as she doesn't have any skates. George gives the students their first lesson, how to fall properly. He demonstrates by falling himself. The kids all find this funny. George says that if they ever fall, it's okay because they can just get right back up. Next, he asks them to walk in the skates between some cones and he has Caillou goes first. Caillou is only able to walk a few steps towards the cones before he falls. He gets back up and tries again. Another kid falls and Caillou falls again too, just as he's completing the cones. They practice some more and afterwards, George gives everyone a sticker. Caillou wonders out loud why he isn't as good as Sarah. He says that he doesn't want to come back, but his Mommy encourages him to give it another try. Then, Caillou sees the zamboni, which he finds very interesting. His Mommy explains its purpose, to lay down new water to form fresh ice. At home, Caillou changes his box plane into a zamboni. He doesn't want to go back to his lessons, but his Mommy says that he should at least go once more and then if he still doesn't want to do it any more, he doesn't have to come back. She also promises that after the lessons, he can stay to see the zamboni. At the lessons, a new kid shows up and George makes the new kid Caillou's project. He wants Caillou to get the kid up to speed on the things they learned before. Caillou demonstrates falling and other important things for the kid. Eventually, the lesson ends, but this time, Caillou doesn't want to leave, as he's having fun. Mommy says that they'll come back and she also wants Caillou to meet someone. Caillou meets the driver of the zamboni, Henry. Henry lets Caillou ride in the zamboni and Caillou even gets to honk the horn. "Just Like Me" Caillou is in the park with Rosie and his Mommy. Clementine shows up. She shows Caillou that her brother, Billy, taught her how to ride her bike without training wheels. Caillou notes that he's a big brother and tries to think of something that he's taught Rosie. He can't come up with anything and is disappointed. As he, Rosie and Mommy leave the park, he helps Rosie to fasten her helmet. At home, Caillou is building with train tracks and he teaches Rosie to put two of them together. He excitedly heads off to get Mommy to show her what Rosie did, but when he returns, Rosie has taken them apart. Mommy figures that Rosie's too young to do it. Caillou is annoyed and complains that he's not a very good big brother, since he can't teach Rosie anything. Mommy says that he is a good big brother and that Rosie watches everything he does and copies him. She suggests that Caillou teach Rosie the A B C song. Caillou does and at first Rosie messes up, getting some of the letters out of order. But then Caillou shows the alphabet with refrigerator magnets and Rosie finally gets it right, at least some of it. Mommy says that Caillou can't stop now. He should teach Rosie the rest of the song. "Just In Time" It's morning and is time for breakfast. Mommy tells Caillou not to dawdle, as they're meeting Leo at the park. Caillou seems to pay attention, but when he sees his toy car, he just has to play with it. He arrives at the kitchen, where Rosie has already eaten her breakfast. Worse, he hasn't even changed clothes or brushed his teeth yet. He keeps playing with his toy car. In the bathroom, he plays some more and so ends up taking forever to brush his teeth. Then, he takes forever to get dressed. They finally leave, but on the way to the playground, Caillou keeps stopping to look at things such as caterpillars. When they arrive at the playground, they are too late and Leo and his Mommy have to be on his way. That evening, Caillou wants his Daddy to read him three bedtime stories. His Mommy, however, reminds him of what happened that morning, saying that there won't be time for any bedtime stories if he messes around like he did. Caillou's Daddy decides to make it into a game. He gets out an hourglass and says that if Caillou can get ready in five minutes, he'll get to hear three bedtime stories. Caillou treats it like a game and gets everything done before the sand even runs out, so Daddy keeps his promise.

The World Around Me!

S3 E6 The World Around Me!

In this Caillou episode we explore Caillou and how he relates to the world around him. Caillou plays at the park, finds an old toy train, receives a gift from Grandma and creates a "doghouse" (cathouse?) for Gilbert. Today, Rexy is outside pretending to be an explorer. He's already conquered "Mount Sandbox" and now he's going to explore the world around him. Teddy comes out and Rexy tells him that he's searching for such things as icebergs and volcanoes. He thinks he hears a volcano, but it turns out that it's actually thunder. Gilbert shows up and says that it was thunder and they'd best be getting inside. Rexy can't believe this is happening. He's not done exploring yet. It's starting to rain and it's totally spoiled his plans. Gilbert and Teddy say that rain is important. It helps to water the flowers, among other things. Rexy is still upset and sings a song about how there's nothing to do and he wasn't expecting this. Eventually, he changes his mind and decides that it could be fun to play indoors. Just then, though, the sky clears up and Gilbert and Teddy send him on his way. Cailliou is exploring the world around him too, whether it be at his own house or at the park in his neighborhood. "Caillou's Favorite Plate" Caillou's Grandma has given him a plate with spaceships on it and he loves it. He's just going to bed and wants to sleep with it, but Mommy suggests that it would be best if she takes it downstairs. It'll be there for him in the morning. In the morning, Caillou comes downstairs and sees Rosie admiring the plate. Caillou's upset that Rosie is apparently messing with his plate, so Daddy gives it to him. He tells him that Rosie was just admiring it. Caillou has breakfast on his plate, pretending that his toast is a rocket. Mommy takes the plate to wash it off, so Caillou heads off and draws a space picture. It finally gets to be lunchtime (or "tupper" as Rosie calls it) and Caillou can't wait to have macaroni and cheese on his plate. Daddy washes off Caillou's hands and then they have a problem. The plate is nowhere to be found. Caillou really wants the plate, but Mommy says it'll have to wait till after lunch. Lunch doesn't go very well for Caillou, as without the plate, he's lost his appetite. They finally begin the search, but it's nowhere to be found. Finally, when they think they've looked just about everywhere, it turns out the plate was in a container right around where Rosie was playing. Daddy says that for finding the plate, it's time for a "space snack." "Games in the Park" Caillou is outside with Rosie and Rosie wants to play with a bouncy ball they have. Caillou rolls it over to her and they play for a little while until Miss Martin, Caillou's daycare instructor shows up. She's there with Caillou's friends, as they're all going to the park together. Rosie wants to come too, but Mommy says that she can't. So Rosie just waves goodbye. Miss Martin says that she has a new game and Leo says that he's going to win. Caillou counters that he will. At the park, they have fun crawling through a playground tube until Miss Martin calls everyone over. It's time for her game and they're going to be playing in teams of two. Caillou and Leo immediately try to pair themselves in a team, but Miss Martin says that she'll be drawing the teammates randomly. (Although somehow it ends up being one boy and one girl on each team.) Caillou is paired with a girl named Mara, an orange-haired girl with glasses, who looks almost boyish. Miss Martin's game is bean-bag race in which one member from each team runs a course. They'll then have to run back and hand off their bean-bag to their partner, who will then complete the course. Caillou really loves the race, but it comes time to handoff the beanbag, he forgets and heads off for the finish line. Mara's aghast and can't believe Caillou forgot her. Caillou crosses the finish line first, but because he didn't hand off, Clementine and Leo win the race. They then create a new race, adding in elements of pushing the beanbags down the slides and an idea of Leo's to walk along the edge of the sandbox. This time, Caillou and Mara still don't win the race, but Caillou doesn't mind. Mara actually got to play this time and Caillou enjoyed trying to walk along the edge of the sandbox, finding it more difficult than he thought it was going to be. Miss Martin then gives them all beanbags of their own - filled with jellybeans! Caillou takes his home and teaches Mommy and Rosie the race he learned and shares the jellybeans with them. Mommy and Rosie enjoy the race so much that they want to try it again. Caillou says that they can't, as he's all out of jellybeans. "All Aboard" Caillou is helping Daddy dust some bookshelves. As they dust, they come across an old photo album with a black-and-white picture of Daddy. Caillou thinks that it's of him, but it's actually of Daddy, when he was four years old. In the picture, he's at Grandpa's house, playing with an old trainset. Caillou wonders if the trainset is still around and Daddy thinks that it probably is. They'll have to wait until the dusting is done to go over and look for it though. To keep himself busy, Caillou goes off and plays with Teddy and his own train. Finally, they head over to Grandpa's. They search all over for the trainset in the basement, but can't find it anywhere. They do, however, find an old train conductor's cap of Daddy's, which Caillou puts on. Grandpa's sure he didn't throw it away and they finally find it in a cabinet. They wonder if it still works. They set it up and it's still working quite well. Daddy and Grandpa show Caillou how it works. They have fun with it and Grandma snaps a photo of all of them together, which placed with the other pictures in the old photo album. "Gilbert's House" Caillou and Daddy are out walking. It's a cold autumn day and so they're hurrying home. As they head home, Caillou points out a small little house. Caillou's Daddy tells him that it's actually a doghouse. Caillou sees that there's a dog in it. When they get home, Caillou decides that Gilbert might like a house too. Daddy thinks that it's a great idea, although Gilbert doesn't seem to be sure. Caillou goes down to the basement and looks for a box for the house, while Gilbert watches on. He finds one he thinks is just right and gets Mommy's permission to use it. She sees that Gilbert has already hopped into it, so it would seem he's claiming it for his own. Caillou colors it red, blue and green and draws some doors and windows on it. He has Daddy cut it so that it has actual, real doors and windows. Daddy also gets out a small piece of carpeting for Gilbert to use as a bed. Caillou thinks the house is ready, but Gilbert refuses to step foot in it. Daddy suggests that maybe it would be better if it had some of Gilbert's things in it. So they get Gilbert's toy mouse and now Gilbert is ready to try it out. Games in the Park: Caillou is excited when Miss Martin takes him and his friends to the park for some special activities. They have a beanbag race: a relay race using one beanbag per team. All these rules are not easy to grasp, and the kids have a few comical mishaps in the process. Caillou discovers that you don't always have to win to be proud of yourself. (Additional Lessons: Teamwork) Caillou's Favorite Plate: Grandma has given Caillou a special spaceship plate. Caillou loves it so much that he carries it everywhere with him and he wants to eat every meal from it. Caillou is disappointed when he can't find the plate. He searches the whole house but still can't find it. Soon Caillou discovers that Rosie accidentally hid it in the kitchen while playing with bowls and lids. Caillou is very happy to have his favorite plate again. His snack even seems to taste better on it. All Aboard!: After finding a photograph of a four-year-old Dad with a model train set, Caillou and Dad decide to look for it in Grandpa's basement. After a while, they finally find it and set it up to test it out. Caillou is having a great time; Grandpa, Dad and Caillou all love toy trains. Grandma captures the moment in a photograph which Caillou decides to put in the photo album beside the old picture of Dad. (Additional Lessons: Family) Gilbert's House: When Caillou spots a dog house outside he gets the idea that Gilbert might like a house of his own. Caillou finds a cardboard box and some crayons and with Gilbert's help, he decides how to decorate the house. Once done, Gilbert's new house is a success! (Additional Lessons: Teamwork).

Machines! Brrrrrmmm!

S3 E7 Machines! Brrrrrmmm!

Caillou learns about the mechanical world around him in this episode of Caillou. Machines mainly involve transportation. Caillou rides on the subway, does repairwork on his bike and accompanies his parents to go car shopping after a mechanical failure in their old car. Caillou also pretends to be a bulldozer. Today, Rexy is hiding inside a box when Gilbert and Teddy come outside and say it's lunchtime. There are three boxes and they can't find him in two of them. He then pops up of the one in the middle and scares them both. He wants to play a game, pretending that the boxes are a singing train. It's okay with Gilbert, just as long as it doesn't take too long. He's getting hungry. So they all sing the "Silly Train" song and arrive back in time for lunch. As for Caillou, he's learning all sorts of things about machines and even doing some machine operating of his own. "As Good As New" Caillou's inside watching Sarah biking from a window and asks Daddy if they can go biking too. Daddy says that it's a good idea, since it's a nice day out. They head outside and both get their bikes, checking to make sure that everything is okay with them, such as air pressure on the tires. They bid goodbye to Mommy and Rosie who are going out to shop. Just then, Leo and his Dad show up. Leo has a fancy new bike with a flag and streamers. Caillou wants to try it out, but at first Leo won't let him. Leo's Dad urges Leo to let Caillou ride it for a bit, saying that he's sure Caillou would let him ride his bike. Caillou has fun riding on it and thanks Leo for letting him try it. Leo and his Daddy head on their way and now Caillou seems a bit sad. He wants his bike to be like Leo's. Daddy says that if they clean their bikes, he's sure they would be better. So they clean them off, but Caillou still isn't satisfied. He wants streamers (or "steamers" as he calls them at first) and a flag. They go inside and use yarn and other materials to create these things. Caillou decorates his bike and now it looks nice like Leo's. Mommy and Rosie return home and Mommy gives Caillou a toy horn she got when she was out shopping. Now it's time to ride. Daddy, Caillou, Mommy and Leo and his Dad all go for a ride together. "Trip on the Subway" Caillou is going to Clementine's. He's just finishing talking to Clementine on the phone and he gives it to Mommy because Clementine's Mom wants to talk to her. After Mommy gets off the phone, she tells Caillou that they'll be going to Clementine's just as soon as she finishes writing a letter. Caillou is a bit annoyed because he wanted to go right away. Just then, Caillou’s Dad appears at the door. He's going to work and has to leave in a hurry. He's taking the car and doesn't have time to take Caillou over to Clementine's, although he can drop Rosie off at Grandma's. Caillou wonders how they'll get to Clementine's without the car. Mommy says that they'll take the subway, which she describes as an underground train. Caillou thinks this is a neat idea, since he likes trains. At the subway station, he sees a female guitarist, who people have been giving money for her efforts. Mommy gives some money to Caillou to give to her. They talk with a subway attendant who looks kind of like Daddy who gives them each a ticket. Caillou tries to go through the turnstile, which he thinks is stuck. Mommy shows him that his ticket will get it unstuck. After the turnstile, they push a button on a machine to get another ticket. This one is just a ticket stub, though, which Mommy says that Caillou can keep as a souvenir. Caillou wants to go through the turnstile again and the attendant happily obliges. Mommy shows Caillou a map of the subway, pointing out where they are and where they're heading. Caillou hears an announcement on the intercom and is startled by it. He's also startled by the heat produced by the oncoming train, but once he sees the bright colors of the train, he's not scared anymore. On the train, he wants to change seats, but Mommy tells him he has to wait until the train stops. He does and then pretends that he's riding backwards. Over at Clementine's, Clemtine's Mom offers to drive them home. Caillou really liked the subway though and he wants to take it home - right away! Mommy suggests that he at least play with Clementine first. "Caillou and the Bulldozer" Caillou and Mommy are out walking when Caillou sees a large, red truck go by. He sees it pull into a construction site and wonders where it went. Mommy shows him a hole in the fence where he can look through. It's too high up for Caillou to see through, so Caillou asks Mommy to lift him up. She does, but not before getting him to say "please." (But not before getting him to turn around the blue-and-yellow pinstriped cap he happens to wearing backwards.) Inside the construction site, Caillou sees a bulldozer moving a mound of dirt. He says that he wants to be a big bulldozer when he grows up. Mommy quips that then maybe someday she can watch him through the hole. Mommy says that they have to go home, but Caillou wants to keep watching. They go home anyway and Caillou pretends to be a bulldozer. At home, Caillou grabs a dustpan and really gets into his role. He finds Rosie and bulldozes down a block tower she made. Rosie's not pleased, so Caillou shows her that bulldozers don't just wreck things, by rebuilding the tower. He heads onwards and finds Daddy, who's going out to rake leaves. This is a perfect job for a bulldozer. With Caillou the bulldozer's help, it isn't long before the leaves are all raked up. "Caillou's Test Drive" Caillou is outside playing with a toy car when Mommy pulls up in the car. The car's not sounding very good and Daddy says that they should take it in for repair. Mommy says that instead, they'll go look at some new cars. They go to a dealership and meet a nice salesman, who asks what kind of car they're looking for. Caillou not-so-helpfully specifies that they want one that's not broken. They check out one with a voice-warning system, but decide that Caillou and Rosie already make enough noise in the car. They check out a mobile home and then a convertible, which fascinates Caillou, since it apparently doesn't have a roof. They take it for a test drive and the salesman demonstrates that you can just hit a button when it rains and the roof covers the car. Back at the car lot, he hands Daddy a price list. Both Daddy and Mommy agree that new cars are a lot of money. They decide they'll just get the old one repaired. So they send it to the garage and it isn't long before it's back good as new. Then, Caillou breaks his toy car, but Daddy says that he can fix it. Trip On The Subway: Caillou learns to deal with a change in plans, when Daddy has to use the car and Mommy and Caillou have to take the subway. Caillou learns, a change in plans can be fun, checking out the map, getting tickets and listening to the musicians! In fact he has so much fun, he and Mom decide to take the subway home! (Additional Lessons: Dealing With Change.) As Good As New: Caillou learns about 'recycling' -- literally! When Caillou gets an eyeful of Leo's new bicycle, he wishes his bike looked special too. So when Dad suggests they shine up his bike, Caillou's all for it! They decorate it with their own streamers and Mom comes through with a new horn too! (Additional Lessons: Learning to Reuse) I, Robot: When Sarah shows Caillou and Leo her new remote controlled robot, the boys get a great idea to be robots too! They have fun taking turns 'controlling' each other with their own remote control. Mom even gets into the act, but when their 'batteries' go dead in the middle of a snack, Mom has to use the emergency 'wind up key'. (Additional Lessons: Learning To Improvise, Imagination.) Caillou's Test Drive: When their car breaks down, the family goes shopping for a new one. Caillou has never seen so many shiny cars and especially likes the one with 'no roof' that they go for a ride in. In the end, Mom and Dad decide to fix up their car, which makes Caillou happy. (Additional Lessons: Learning About Reusing And Repairing.)

It's Cold Outside! Brrrr!

S3 E8 It's Cold Outside! Brrrr!

In this Caillou episode we explore all the fun things you can do in winter. Activities include making maple syrup and various types of snow fun. The Sugar Shack: When Caillou's family makes a springtime visit Jonas' ranch, he takes them on a sleigh ride to a maple forest where Caillou discovers how the maple sap is collected from maple trees and gets to help to collect some. Later on in the sugar shack, Caillou learns about the maple syrup transformation process. But the best surprise is outside when Jonas pours the hot maple toffee on the snow, for everyone to enjoy. (Additional Lesson: Patience) Winter Mystery: The twins, Jason and Jeffrey, have come to play with Caillou in the snow. They have fun playing games and making tracks in the snow until they discover smaller tracks between the two trees. A closer investigation leads them to a mischievous and playful squirrel who soon has them running around the yard. Exhausted, they drop in the snow and make some tracks of their own: snow angels. (Additional Lessons: Fun Games in the Snow) Caillou's Snow Day: When Caillou, Rosie and Mom head to the big park, Caillou sees Andre and they decide to build a snow fort. It is not easy but Caillou likes to learn from Andre and they put a lot of effort into building it. Sarah shows up and the boys put the fort to the test as they start a fun snow fight. In the end, they decide that the fort could be higher and everyone pitches in to help. (Additional Lessons: Cooperation) Dog Sled Ahead!: Caillou and his family are heading to the tobogganing hill! What fun it is to climb the hill and race down surrounded by people having a good time. Caillou is curious when they see a sled dog and his master giving a sled show on the premises. Caillou watches in wonder as the dog obeys the vocal commands. He's even more impressed when he gets to ride the sled with Rosie and the dog listens to him! (Additional Lessons: New Winter Experiences)

New Places and New Things!

S3 E9 New Places and New Things!

Caillou has a variety of new experiences as he continues to grow and see the world around him. The Big Boat: Caillou and family go on a trip on Helen's boat, an old friend of Mom's. Caillou is surprised to find there's a whole house packed into the boat. Caillou learns about wind and sails, and even gets to steer the boat too! Caillou Becomes a Waiter: When Mom and Dad are getting ready to go out to a restaurant, Caillou doesn't understand why he can't go too! He's disappointed until Julie the babysitter suggests they make their own restaurant, complete with menus! Everyone dresses up and Caillou and Julie take turns being waiters! Sticking to It!: When Caillou accidentally breaks one of his toys because his room is a mess, Mom suggests a way to make cleaning up fun: with colorful stickers and a chart. Now Caillou and Rosie get to pick out their very own stickers for brushing their teeth, and more importantly, cleaning up the toys in their bedrooms! New Clothes: When Caillou dresses himself, he learns it's okay to change from your favorite shorts when you find out it's cold outside. And when you put your pants on backwards, you can change and put them on right. So when he sees Dad and Grandpa in suits and ties for a big party, he changes into his grownup clothes too. In today's puppet segment, Rexy says he wants to go on a worldwide adventure. He says to Gilbert that he told him he was growing up, so he thinks he's ready for his adventure. Gilbert, however, tells him that he's not grown up enough yet. Rexy waits like a few seconds and then asks if he's grown up enough. Gilbert tells him it takes years to grow up. Rexy then sings a downbeat song about how he was going to have a great adventure, but now he has to stay right where he is. As he finishes the song, Gilbert and Teddy show up, saying they're going on a worldwide adventure. They tell him that just because they can't really go on a worldwide adventure doesn't mean they can't pretend. They sing an upbeat version of Rexy's song and then all agree that they enjoyed their pretend adventure. Caillou today is also going on adventures, as well as trying out some new things both by himself and with others. "Caillou Becomes a Waiter" Caillou is drwawing and he's drawn a nice picture of Julie, his and Rosie's babysitter. It just so happens she's coming over today because Mommy and Daddy are going to a restaurant. She arrives, but Caillou complains that he wants to go to the restaurant with Mommy and Daddy. They tell him that he can't come, but he'll have fun with Julie. He insists that he won't have a good time. Julie asks Caillou if he wants to help with dinner. Mommy made his favorite, macaroni and cheese. Caillou's really not interested at first, but then Julie says that they can make their own restaurant. So Julie, Rosie and Caillou all get together and make up pretend menus and Caillou makes a bowtie for himself and pretends to be a waiter. As Julie and Rosie sit down to eat, he brings them their menus and has them order off of them. He even gets four pennies out of "Julie" as payment, although when he asks Rosie for payment, she manages to bargain it down to one penny. It's now time for Caillou to order, so Julie takes on the part of the waiter. Caillou tells her that he doesn't have any money to pay her with. She tells him that if you can't pay, you have to do the dishes. Caillou tells her that he wanted to anyway. He says he's glad that he didn't go to Mommy and Daddy's restaurant because their restaurant is much more fun. "The Big Boat" Today, Caillou and his family are going to ride on a sailboat. It's morning and Caillou uses a toy boat of his to play pretend about their journey. To help demonstrate, Daddy adds a sail to the boat. Mommy then says that it's time to leave for the marina. Daddy has Caillou put on sneakers, saying that they're the best shoes for riding in a boat. He also gives Caillou a toy pinwheel. The sailboat they're going on is white and is owned by a friend of theirs named Helen. They get to the marina and at first Caillou doesn't see the boat, but with Mommy and Daddys' help, he spots it. Helen welcomes everyone aboard. She has them all put on lifejackets. Then, she takes Daddy and Caillou to see her indoor boathouse, but Mommy and Rosie stay outside because Rosie has taken an interest in watching the seagulls. Helen shows Caillou that her boat has lots of different things, such as a kitchen, a bathroom and even a bed. After this exploration, Helen gives everyone some grapes. It's getting windy, so it's time to set sail. They go sailing, but then the boat stops, so the sails have to be turned in the direction the wind is blowing. Rosie gets scared as the boat goes faster and faster, but calms down when Caillou gives her his pinwheel. Helen lets Caillou be the captain of the boat for a bit and wear her cap. Finally, the visit comes to an end. Helen gets back her cap and Caillou gets back his pinwheel. That night, Caillou is still thinking about the boating experience, so he sails his toy boat in the bathtub. "Sticking to It!" Caillou's looking for one of his favorite toys, a tractor. He's looked all around, but can't find it, so he yells for Mommy. Mommy looks at his room and suggests that he clean it, think that maybe if he did, he might be able to find it. Caillou starts to clean up. He finds a toy airplane of his, but then he ends up accidentally stepping on the tractor, which was buried under a pile of clothes. He shows it to Mommy, who figures it wouldn't have happened if his room had been such a mess. She tells him that she has an idea that could make housework fun. She and Caillou get together and make up a sticker chart. Rosie joins in too and gets her own chart. The chart includes various tasks and each time Caillou or Rosie does one of them, they get a sticker. Caillou gets a sticker for cleaning up a glass of milk he spills. Caillou and Rosie also both get stickers for brushing their teeth. Then, Caillou notes a very nice dinosaur sticker. Mommy says that if he wants such a special sticker, he'll have to do something special for it. So Caillou cleans up all of the clothes and stuff lying around his room and he earns the special sticker. Rosie also gets another sticker because she helped out with the cleaning. "New Clothes" Caillou is sitting at the breakfast table, stirring the milk in his cereal bowl. Daddy is on the phone, but he's just getting off and says that Grandma and Grandpa are having an anniversary party tonight. Caillou's excited at the idea of a party and wants to go right away, but the party's not until the evening and Caillou isn't even dressed yet. Mommy suggests that maybe today he can dress himself. Caillou tries this and ends up in a red shirt with blue shorts. However, upon closer examination, Daddy finds that he is actually wearing two shorts. Furthermore, he takes him inside and shows him that it's a bit nippy out. Caillou decides to reconsider the shorts idea. So he tries again and this time puts on a green shirt and a pair of pants, but the pants are on backwards. That evening, it comes time for the anniversary party and now it's time to put on some nicer clothes. Caillou dons some clothes he feels are pretty nice, but when he sees Daddy and Grandpa looking very spiffy in their clothing, he decides to reconsider his apparel and comes back in something even nicer, even wearing a tie, although he needs a little help getting the tie on properly.

Step By Step!

S3 E10 Step By Step!

Caillou learns about the value of helping others, whether they are close friends or new acquaintances in this Caillou episode. A Good Friend: When Leo forgets his brand new toy dinosaur in the park, Daddy and Caillou go looking for it. With no success, Caillou, with Mommy's help, puts up a Lost and Found Poster, and then, finds 'Dino' at the Park Office Lost and Found! Mr. Fix It: When the washing machine needs fixing, Caillou ends up helping Bob the repairman. Inspired, Caillou helps Dad hammer a nail and glue the leg onto a wobbly stool too! Grandma's Helper: Caillou accompanies Grandma to the Senior's residence where he finds out 'driving' the meal cart is more fun than driving his toy truck because it has bigger wheels. Caillou even helps push Mrs. Wilson around in her wheelchair, proving to be the best driver she's ever had! Caillou's Paper Route: When Sarah asks to borrow Caillou's wagon for her new paper route, Caillou offers to help too! Caillou, with Daddy's help, learns about getting up early, folding the papers and delivering them too. He even delivers one to Mr. Hinkle, and Daddy too! In the puppet segment, Rexy, Teddy and Gilbert are assembling a bird feeder, step by step. Gilbert has the instructions and he says that the first step is to take the birdfeeder out of the box. They've already done that, so they move to the next step, which is to assemble the birdfeeder. Hearing that, Rexy wonders if that step comes with instructions. Teddy looks at it and figures it out, though, so it is quickly assembled. Gilbert reads Step 3, find a perfect spot and hang the birdfeeder. So the puppets begin looking for a spot, singing a song as they do, about how "working together is so much fun" and "you help me and I'll help you." They find a perfect spot, but notice that the birds aren't coming. They wonder what's wrong at first and Rexy asks if perhaps there's a Step 4. Gilbert looks at the instructions and sees that Rexy is absolutely right. The fourth and most important step is to put food in the birdfeeder. Gilbert wonders how Rexy knew and Rexy explains that he figured it would be odd to have a restaruant without food. They put the food in and the birds finally come. Caillou is learning how to do things step by step too, such as assisting a repairman, or helping Grandma during a visit to the seniors' home. "Mr. Fix It" It's laundry day at Caillou's house. Caillou likes laundry day because the whole house smells nice. Daddy has some sheets which he's folded and Gilbert sits down on top of them, as if he's doing to take a nap. Daddy gets him to leave and says that he knows he put two socks in the washer, but he can only find one. Just then, the washer starts acting crazy. Soap suds start flying out of it and it's definitely not working right. Mommy comes downstairs to see what's going on and Caillou quips that they're washing the whole basement. They decide they'd best call a repairman. So they call in Bob, who they already know because he fixed their dryer last year. He arrives the next day and asks Caillou if he remembers him. Caillou says that he doesn't. Bob says to Caillou "I'm hear to fix your washer" and Caillou responds that it isn't his washer, it's Mommy's and Daddy's, but he knows where it is. He accompanies Bob to go to fix it. Mommy suggests that Caillou leave so that Bob can work in peace, but Bob says that he doesn't mind and could use some help. Caillou goes and gets toy tools. He shows them to Bob, who points out a toy wrench. He shows Caillou how to use it for tightening and uses it to tighten the stem of the washer. He shows Daddy that the problem was that the missing sock was wrapped under the stem. After he's gone, Caillou is still feeling helpful. He helps Daddy to nail a picture onto the wall. Then, he notices Mommy with a wobbly stool. So he and Dad work together to fix it, Caillou applying glue to keep the leg on. He says that this time, Daddy helped him. "A Good Friend" Caillou is gathering some toys to take to the park. He wants to take a whole bunch, but Mommy convinces him that it would be best to take just a couple. She also suggests that he leave his dinosaur, Rexy, behind so that it doesn't get dirty. He meets up with Leo, who chose to bring his new dinosaur, who he calls Dino. (Pronounced Dine-O) They go to the park and have a good time, playing on the slides, in the sand and on the monkey bars. When Leo gets on the monkey bars, he sets Dino at the end of the ladder leading up to them. As he and Caillou are playing on them, Mommy calls, saying that it's time for them to go. They leave, but Leo forgets to take Dino. Back at Caillou's house, Caillou says that he wants to play with Leo again tomorrow. Leo's Mom says that Leo has to visit his aunt tomorrow morning, so they agree that Leo can come over in the afternoon. That evening at dinner, Caillou and the family get a phone call. It's Leo's Mom, saying that Leo lost his dinosaur. Daddy has Caillou check to see if it's in with his toys, but it's not there. Then, Caillou remembers that Leo left it at the park. Even though it's starting to get dark, he convinces Mommy and Daddy to let him go look for it after dinner. They go to the park, but can't find it anywhere. They can't stay any longer because it looks like it's going to rain. It does rain and that night, Mommy tells Caillou that they can make a "Lost" poster tomorrow, which should help to find Dino. Caillou sees the rain outside and is glad Rexy is safe inside. In the morning, they make the poster and then go to the park, where they meet a park attendant. She tells Caillou that there's a lost and found at the park office. So they go to check it out. Caillou's fascinated by the lost and found and notices that there's a lot interesting things there that people have lost. Rosie finds and tries on a pair of sunglasses that's missing a lense. They also find a creepy doll which is broken and keeps repeating "Hello, my name is (hic)." Unfortunately, Caillou can't seem to find Dino anywhere. Mommy tells him they'll just have to keep looking. But just then, as they get ready to leave, Caillou notices Dino's tail sticking out of the sleeve of a lost shirt. Later that afternoon, Caillou returns the dinosaur to Leo who thanks him and says he's his best friend. Caillou then suggests that they play indoors because Leo wouldn't want to lose Dino again. "Grandma's Helper" Caillou is over at Grandma's, playing with a toy truck in her driveway. Grandma tells him that it's time to visit her friends at the Seniors' Home. Caillou says that he wants to keep playing with his truck and she tells him he can take it with him. They get to the Seniors' Home and Caillou starts playing with his truck again. Grandma has a cart of hot meals and says she could use a driver. Caillou looks at the cart and notices it has wheels like his truck. He agrees to help her and she tells him that there are a few rules: follow her, be careful other people and most importantly, no speeding. Caillou helps out and the job is soon done. Caillou then meets a lady in a wheelchair named Mrs. Wilson, who says that she's going down to the garden. She says that she could use a driver, so Caillou agrees to push her in the wheelchair. Along the way, she talks with Caillou, saying that he's a good driver. He says it's because he's been driving ever since he was a little kid. They arrive at the garden, where Mrs. Wilson suggests that he could be a driver when he grows up. She tells him that there are lots of jobs driving, such as a bus driver, an ice cream driver, or even car racing. Caillou responds that he likes ice cream. He and Grandma leave and Caillou thanks her for a lot of fun. "Caillou's Paper Route" It's Saturday Morning and Caillou and Daddy always like to start their Saturday the same way, by reading the Saturday paper. Caillou goes out to get it, but finds that it's not there. He's upset, but just then, a van pulls out. Sarah comes out. It turns out she has a new paper route and is running a bit late because she doesn't have a wagon yet. Caillou tells her that he has a nice wagon, which she can use to deliver the papers if she wants. Sarah agrees and suggests that perhaps he could help her deliver the paper tomorrow. Daddy says that it's okay with him, but suggests that he or Sarah's Mom accompany them. The next morning, Caillou wakes Daddy up extra early because he can't wait to deliver the paper. He and Caillou get the papers bundled for delivery and then get to work. Daddy asks if he can help out, but Sarah and Caillou tell him that they can do it on their own. They get to the end of the route and Caillou gets to deliver Mr. Hinkle's paper. He explains that he's helping Sarah. The final delivery is his and Daddys' very own paper and for this, Caillou asks Daddy to go inside. He then rings the doorbell and hands Daddy the paper. Sarah thanks Caillou for helping and says he's welcome to help her any time.

Caillou aime pretendre

S3 E11 Caillou aime pretendre

Rexy is dressed in a cape and mask, trying to pretend to be a superhero. He's looking for something superheroic to do. He hears windchimes and pretends that they're sound of an approaching dragon. He pretends to track the dragon saying that the dragon isn't fooling him and he's not afraid of it. Gilbert and Teddy come out and see him pretending. Gilbert wonder what he's doing and Teddy explains it to him. Gilbert thinks it sounds like fun and wants to join in. Gilbert roars, pretending to be something evil. Rexy gets scared, thinking that it's real at first, but Teddy tells him that it's just Gilbert pretending. He tells Rexy he knows how he can fight the dragon. He has Rexy turn on the garden hose and spray him with it. Gilbert says that it isn't fair, he was just pretending. Rexy tells him that nobody messes with Super Rexy and gets away dry. As for Caillou, he's not playing superhero, or anything villainous either, but he does pretend to be a robot and also goes on a pretend safari. "I, Robot" Caillou and Leo are outside playing in Caillou's driveway when Sarah stops by and shows off her new toy robot. Leo asks her to show them how it works, so she demonstrates that she can use a remote control to make it go forwards and backwards and even pick up a stick. She then has to leave, though. Caillou says that he'd like to have a robot like it. Leo starts pretending to be a robot, so Caillou makes up a pretend remote control. He and Caillou then take turns playing robot. Mommy makes them both a robot disguise. Caillou also borrows a pot which Rosie happens to be banging on and makes it into a silly robot hat. Then, he and Leo get into a bit of an argument because they both want to be a robot, but they only have one remote control. They run into Mommy, who decides to take over the remote control and control both of them. She uses the remote control to "make them jump" and then says she has to go cook dinner. So the boys take back the remote control and this time decide to pretend that Mommy is a robot. She gladly obliges for a little while, but then she takes back the remote and says that Caillou and Leo are robots again. However, she can't get the remote control to work and says that it must have gone dead. She pretends to push a "restart" button on both of them and they're once again functioning robots. "Just Like Daddy" It's morning and Caillou is stirring the milk in his cereal like he's bored. He starts making "beep beep" noises. He turns to Daddy and asks him what he's doing and Daddy tells him that he's making a list of things to do. Mommy says that she and Rosie are going to the store. She asks Caillou if he wants to come along, but he says he wants to stay with Daddy. He does and says that he wants to drink coffee like Daddy. Daddy says that coffee is a little too strong for him, but he does get to drink from a mug like the one that Daddy has. Mommy leaves for the grocery store, but first she shows Caillou that she's making an addition to Daddy's list: "make lunch." Caillou goes to give the list to Daddy, but then Gilbert gets a hold of it. Caillou manages to finally get it back from him. He goes upstairs and sees that Daddy is shaving. He wants to do it too, so Daddy puts some shaving cream on his face and he pretends like he's shaving. While he's doing this, Gilbert comes in and grabs the list again. Caillou wants to go after it, but Daddy, not even knowing what it is, tells Caillou that he needs to clean off his face first. After getting out of the bathroom, Caillou helps Daddy by gluing a leg onto a table. They then clean it off because it's very dusty and making Daddy sneeze. Daddy then says he's going to take a newspaper break and Caillou pretends to take one too. He then helps Daddy put away some washers and bolts and such into various jars. Rosie and Mommy return and Rosie sees what Caillou and Daddy are doing. She says she wants to help, but Daddy tells her it's a job for Caillou and him. Mommy asks if Daddy made lunch and Daddy wonders what she's talking about. Then, Rosie finds Gilbert and the list. She tosses it over to Daddy, who complains that making lunch wasn't on the list in the morning. Mommy explains that she added it. They decide to all make lunch together and the narrator comments that while Caillou likes helping his Daddy, he likes helping his Mommy too. "Caillou Tries Karate" Caillou is in Rosie's room, asking Mommy if he can go to the park. Mommy says that she has to take Rosie to her swimming lessons and Caillou asks if he can come along. Mommy reminds him that Leo is supposed to be coming over in the afternoon. This satisfies Caillou, who is happy that Leo is coming over. He goes downstairs and the phone rings. He picks it up, but the phone call is actually for Daddy. It turns out that it's Sarah's Mom. She has a bad cold and so she's wondering if Daddy could take Sarah to her karate class. Daddy agrees. A bit later, Leo arrives and he and Caillou go upstairs to play in Caillou's room. Later on, Sarah arrives. Daddy tells her she's still in her pajamas and she explains to him that it's not pajamas, it's called Gi Pants, her karate outfit. She goes upstairs to talk to Caillou and Leo and shows off some karate moves for them. She says she has to go to her class, but maybe later she can go back and show them some more moves. She returns later and does just that and the whole family enjoys her performance. "Caillou's Safari" Caillou is in his room, with Teddy. He has a matching game card he wants to play, apparently by himself, but he finds that his card set has only one card. He asks Teddy if he's seen any of his cards. Teddy naturally doesn't respond, so Caillou heads downstairs. Downstairs, it would seem that Rosie has some of Caillou's cards. Daddy tells Caillou as much when he asks about it. He gives Caillou a box to put the cards in and tells Caillou that he saw a card in the bathroom with a whale on it. Caillou has fun, going on a sort of scavenger hunt for the cards. Eventaully, he comes across Rosie, who insists that the cards are hers. They argue until Mommy notes that they haven't even found all the cards yet. She suggests that they turn finding the cards into a safari. They do so and have fun finding the cards in all sorts of different places and pretending that they're the various animals depicted on the cards. Eventually, Daddy shows up and says that it's time for dinner. Caillou says that he wants to continue pretending. Daddy says that they're having hamburgers for dinner and Caillou changes his mind very quickly. Just Like Daddy: Daddy has a list of things to do around the house. However, the list soon disappears thanks to Gilbert who has decided to take off with it. Mom and Rosie go to the store, Caillou stays at home with his Daddy, and has a lot of fun imitating him and helping him with the chores Dad remembers from the missing list. Caillou And The Bulldozer: On an autumn day, Caillou and his Mommy take a walk and pass by a construction site. Caillou loves to watch the big bulldozer and starts to pretend he is one too. Back home, not everyone likes Bulldozer-Caillou as he chases Gilbert with his dust pan/bulldozer shovel and destroys Rosie's block tower. Caillou helps Rosie build a new tower and finally finds a perfect job for a bulldozer: bulldozing the leaves with Dad in the backyard. Caillou Tries Karate: Leo comes over to play at Caillou's house. They have fun pretending to be bears until Sarah shows up wearing a GY (white Karate outfit). Dad had promised to drive her to her Karate lesson. Sarah introduces Caillou and Leo to Karate and demonstrates a few moves. While she is at her class, the boys have their own pretend Karate game. When Sarah comes back, she gives another lesson to the whole family. Caillou's Safari: Caillou wants to play with his animal cards but they have disappeared. A search soon reveals that Rosie has been playing with them, scattering them around the house. Caillou's new mission: to find them! So Caillou and Rosie head out on a safari, working together to find the animal cards.

All Wet!

S3 E12 All Wet!

Caillou learns about having fun with water. Gone Fishing: Caillou learns about patience when he goes fishing with Daddy and Grandpa at the pier. He even watches a boat bring in a load of fish! But learning about patience is hard, can Caillou wait long enough to catch his own fish? Caillou's Water Park: Caillou learns that the best fun is made up and not bought and paid for. When he sees a flyer in the mail about a fun looking water park, he wants to go! But Mom says it's not a good day for it and Caillou is disappointed. That is until they come up with an idea to make their very own water park in the backyard! The Water Goes 'Round: Grandma is watching Caillou for the day, and he wants her to play trucks with him. But Grandma has a better idea; why not help do the laundry? She makes such a great game of it, Caillou wants to play it again and again. The only trouble is, the laundry is all done! Caillou learns about helping out, and that it can be fun too! A Very Good Swimmer: Caillou gets an introduction to what it means to be handicapped, when, at the pool, he meets Tammy, a girl a few years older, who happens to be in a wheelchair. Caillou hardly even notices Tammy's handicap, all he knows is, she's a great swimmer! She even shows Caillou a few aquatic tricks! In the puppet segment, Gilbert and Teddy are fanning each other because it's very hot. Rexy comes outside, saying that Caillou's Daddy just gave the "green light" to fill up the pool. Gilbert says that he would help out, but he can't move, the heat is simply unbearable. Rexy begins filling the pool - with toys. He thinks he has it all ready, but then Teddy tells him that he's forgetting something. Rexy says that Teddy is right, he's forgotten the most important thing. He goes inside and comes back out wearing a mask and snorkel. So Gilbert tells him that the missing ingredient is water. Rexy heads back inside, leading Gilbert and Teddy to wonder what he's doing. He comes back out with a small bucket of water that isn't nearly enough to fill the pool. Gilbert suggests that he use a hose. Teddy helps Rexy with this, but at first can't get it to work. Gilbert tells him that he needs to turn it on. So he does, but ends up spraying Gilbert with water. Gilbert says that this time, though, he actually find the water refreshing. They all head for the pool together. Caillou is having water fun too, although not all of it necessarily involves getting wet. "Caillou's Water Park" Caillou is on the porch playing with a toy truck. The mailman comes. Caillou takes the mail and brings it to Daddy, saying that he's now the mailman. Daddy looks at the mail. It's a brochure for a waterpark. Caillou and Rosie ask if they can go. Daddy says that it's too far away. He has Caillou show the brochure to Mommy, though. Mommy is outside hanging some laundry. Caillou shows her the brochure and says that maybe they could go, but they would have to make it a special trip with it being so far away. For the meantime, she suggests that they could make their own waterpark. She points out a picture of a rainbow on the brochure and uses water from tho hose to make a rainbow. Caillou thinks this is great, but Mommy says that it wasn't that hard to do. Together, she and Caillou put together their own miniature water park and then invite Daddy and Rosie. Caillou tells them they have to pay first, so Daddy hands Caillou some sort of coin. Mommy then says that as their first customers, they each get presents. Daddy and Rosie wonder what those could be and soon find out: they get sprayed with water! "Gone Fishing" It's morning and Caillou is just waking up. Today, he, Daddy and Grandpa are going on a fishing trip. Caillou thinks he's going to catch lots of fish, but Daddy says that often even the best fisherman only catch one. Caillou hopes in that case that it's a really big one. He goes downstairs and sees Mommy packing lunch. He tells her they don't need lunch, since they're going to have fish to eat, but she tells Caillou that it's peanut butter and jelly and Caillou changes his mind. Grandpa shows up wearing his "lucky hat," which he says helps him to catch fish. Mom reminds him that the last time he went fishing, he didn't catch any. They go out to the fishing lake and Caillou is given his own lucky hat. Grandpa shows him what lures and flies are and Daddy shows him the bait - worms. He says that to fish, they're like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. So they go fishing. Caillou tries to catch some using a net, but Daddy and Grandpa tells him that they have to use their fishing rods to catch fish. They sit down to fish and Caillou listens to some of the different sounds. He can hear a seagull and also the sound of dragonfly whirring by. He sees somebody nearby catching a fish, but is surprised when they let it go. Daddy explains that sometimes fishermen let the small ones grow. That way, they'll grow to become a bigger fish to catch later. Caillou begins to grow bored. It seems like nobody has got any fish. Daddy tells him that fishing takes patience and he uses Grandpa as an example: Grandpa has dozed off. Caillou wakes him up and they decide to have lunch and go for a walk. As they're walking, they see a couple of guys bringing in the "catch of the day." Daddy explains that they're going to take the fish to be sold at the store. They drop a couple on the dock and Caillou watches a seagull flies down and snatches it. They go back to fishing and Grandpa says that he's about ready to call it a day. Caillou, however, wants to keep fishing a bit longer. He eventually gets a nibble and tries with Daddy's help to reel it in, but it gets away. It's not a big deal, though, as it was a very small fish. They finally decide to head home, but on the way, they stop at a store and buy a fish to bring home. They show it to Mommy who exclaims that it's a big fish. Caillou tells her that they caught it at the store and Daddy tells him not to be giving away all their secrets. Caillou says that he forgot. "The Water Goes 'Round" Caillou is over at Grandma's, playing with his toy cars. He asks Grandma to play with him. She says that she has to do some laundry first and suggests that they play the "laundry game." Caillou responds that's not a game and Grandma says that she can make it into a game. She first has Caillou take a bag of laundry downstairs. Once there, she then has him sort out the colored clothes. Caillou says that he likes the game. Grandma has him put some laundry detergent into the washer (a top loader) and then start it up. There's nothing left to do for right now, so they go upstairs and play a board game. Eventually, they head back downstairs and Grandma has Caillou help her to put the clothes into the dryer (a front loader) and once again push the button. She says that when it's done, there'll be a buzzer and asks Caillou to listen for it. They go upstairs and play some more and then the buzzer goes off. Grandma has Caillou fold clothes and bundle socks. Mommy arrives to pick Caillou up and Caillou says that he'd like to do laundry with her sometime. "A Very Good Swimmer!" Caillou is outside playing in a small kiddie pool. He's pretending to be a fish. Rosie sees him and she wants to get in too. Caillou complains that there isn't really any room for him to swim in. So Mommy decides to take everyone to the public pool. At the pool, Caillou drops his towel. A nearby girl in a wheelchair stops and picks it up and hands it to him. The narrator explains that Caillou had never seen anyone in wheelchair before. He asks Mommy if it's a wagon and Mommy explains that the girl has to use it because she can't walk. Caillou goes swimming and sees the girl swimming underwater. She introduces herself to him as Tammy. She helps him to learn how to swim underwater. Caillou has problems because the water keeps getting in his nose. She has him stick his face under the water and blow bubbles. She says that he's a very good swimmer. Caillou practices swimming underwater. It is difficult, but he gets the hang of it and swims over to Mommy. It finally comes time to leave, but Caillou says that he wants to come again and play with Tammy tomorrow. They agree to this and Caillou says he's going to practice to be as good at swimming as Tammy is.

Caillou aime les animaux

S3 E13 Caillou aime les animaux

In this Caillou episode we explore animals and how Caillou relates to them. The puppets are all outside, imagining things in the clouds. Gilbert spots a bird in a tree and they all hear it singing. They don't really understand it, but they figure if maybe they sing a song, it'll help, since birds communicate by singing. They sing a big number called "The Animal Song" with lots of different animal sounds. Once they're done, Rexy asks if the bird liked it and it chirps back as if it did. Caillou also enjoys seeing and interacting with a bunch of different animals. "Elephants" Caillou is inside, showing Rosie animals in a storybook. He points out an elephant to Rosie. Mommy comes in and says that they'll see some today during the trip to the zoo. They go to the zoo and Caillou sees a parrot. Caillou likes it, but he really wants to go see the elephants. So they follow a sign, which has a picture of an elephant pointing in one direction and a picture of a whale pointing in another. They see a monkey on the way to the elephants. Rosie likes it and Caillou tries to imitate it. Then they see hippos, which Caillou likes because they're really big, but he still wants to see the elephants. Mommy gives both him and Rosie a piggyback ride to where the elephants are. Caillou is happy to see them and they're as neat as he thought they would be. He sees a baby elephant and also sees an elephant spraying itself with water. "Caillou and the Sheep" Mommy has a bad cold and is trying to get some rest, so Caillou is spending the day with Grandma. Grandma has a special surprise for him. She takes him to the farm of an old friend of hers. It's a sheep farm and Caillou is afraid of the sheep at first, but he gets the courage to go up to one and say hello. He meets Emma, Grandma's friend, who possibly kind of like what Rosie might when she grows up. Emma shows him around her house, showing him some of the different things they use the wool from the farm for. Then, Caillou meets Mary, Emma's kid, who also has the same Rosie-ish hairstyle as Emma. Mary shows Caillou how to work a spinning wheel. Then they go outside and Caillou spots a sheep that's been sheared of it's wool. He thinks it looks funny. Mary points out her Dad, who is hard at work shearing the wool off a sheep. She says that her Dad concentrates so hard that he probably won't even notice them. She leads Caillou to a small barn, where it seems that a lamb has gotten loose. She explains to Caillou that lamb is what they call a baby sheep. Caillou's a bit scared because that it seems the lamb won't even listen to Mary. She finally gets a hold of it, however and Caillou pets it. He likes it because its wool is even softer than that of the normal sheep. He watches as Mary gives it milk from a bottle and then she finally places it back in its pen. It comes time for Caillou and Grandma to leave and they're both given something to take home. When Caillou gets home, he finds out that it's a plush sheep. Grandma gives hers to Rosie and Caillou gives his to Mommy to make her feel better. Gilbert starts trying to play with Rosie's sheep and they tell him to quiet down, since Mommy is trying to rest. "Caillou and the Puppies" Caillou is going over to Mr. Hinkle's with his Daddy to help Mr. Hinkle make a doghouse. When they get there, there are many puppies and also a Mommy named Mimi. The narrator explains that Caillou is sometimes nervous around dogs, but he soon gets up the courage to pet one. Mr. Hinkle explains that they're not actually his dogs. He's looking after them for a friend and he's making the doghouse to surprise his friend. Caillou goes off to look for a lost puppy. He starts playing with some of the others and then realizes he's still supposed to be looking. He finally finds it and it seems to be playing hide-and-seek. The puppy hides under the roof of the doghouse and Caillou has a good time chasing after it. The doghouse is finally completed (it seems Mr. Hinkle and Daddy did most of the work) and Caillou goes inside himself to check it out. He approves of it. "Clementine's New Pet" Clementine has just gotten a new pet and Caillou and his Mommy are going over to her house to see it. On the way there, Caillou wonders just what the pet could be. He wonders if maybe it could be a dog, but Mommy says that it isn't. He thinks maybe it could be a squirrel, but Mommy says that squirrels aren't pets. She starts drop hints as to what it could be, saying that it's orange. Caillou wonders if maybe it could be a dinosaur. They finally get to Clementine's and Caillou meets up with Clementine. She tells him that her pet blows bubbles. He finally gets to see it: it's a goldfish. Clementine shows him that it has special food to eat. Mommy tells Caillou to take off his jacket. Caillou refers to the fish as "fishie" and Clementine tells him that it's name is Goldie. Clementine's Mom gives them a snack and Caillou pretends to eat like a fish. Caillou and Clementine go off and draw pictures of Goldie. It's almost time to go, but first Caillou shows his drawing to Goldie. Back at home, Caillou tells Daddy all about Goldie. He also shows off his drawing, which Gilbert seems to like. Caillou And The Sheep: Grandma takes Caillou on a special visit to a sheep farm. There, Mary, a 10-year-old girl, takes Caillou on a tour, teaching him about sheep, sheering, and the spinning of wool. When a small lamb escapes in the barn, Caillou helps Mary bring it back into its box. Elephants: When Mom, Rosie and Caillou go to the zoo, Caillou can't wait to see the elephants. Rosie is a bit uneasy with all of these animals around and it takes her a while to get used to them; but, each time they leave a station, the animals seem to "connect" with Rosie one way or another which finally makes her smile. They see a parrot, a monkey, a hippopotamus and finally the elephants! Caillou is in complete awe and comes to the realization that animals have families too. Caillou And The Puppies: Caillou and Dad go over to Mr. Hinkle's house to help him build a dog house. Caillou soon meets Mr. Hinkle's guests, a Mommy dog with her two puppies, who are staying with him for a few days. When one of the puppies disappears, Caillou helps look for him. Fortunately, the bold little puppy comes out of hiding and joins his family in their new home. Clementine's New Pet: When Mom takes Caillou to Clementine's to see her new pet, she won't tell Caillou what kind of animal it is. She wants it to be a surprise. Caillou soon discovers that Clementine's new pet is a goldfish named Goldie! Clementine teaches Caillou how to feed him. Clementine and Caillou play with Goldie by holding toys against the glass of the fish bowl? After a snack, Caillou and Clementine decide to make drawings of Goldie and are amazed when the fish seems to look at the pictures when they hold it against the fish bowl.

Outdoor Adventures

S3 E14 Outdoor Adventures

In this Caillou episode we explore Caillou out in nature. In the puppet segment, the puppets have painted their birdhouse and now are looking for the perfect spot to hang it back up. Gilbert thinks maybe they should hang it on a low branch, so that they can see the birds up close, but Teddy feels it's best to hang it higher up and that way more birds will come. Teddy wins and gets to hang the birdhouse. Once it's hung up, Rexy decides to stay put and watch and see if any birds come. When none show up at first, he begins getting bored. He goes inside and comes back out dressed like carnival hawker and starts calling out for all the birds to come. Teddy comes and tells him that he has to be quiet and wait patiently if he wants the birds to come. Rexy says that he wishes the birds would hurry. Just then, Gilbert goes chasing after a butterfly. Teddy goes to stop him and while he's doing that and Rexy waits, a butterfly lands on his back and a caterpillar starts crawling up it. This is neat, but it's even more neat when a bird finally comes to the birdhouse. Everyone is happy about it. Caillou is doing things outdoors too, such as cavorting with cows and going canoeing. "The Duck Family" Caillou and his family are outside at a nature park having a picnic. Caillou is playing ball with Daddy, but the ball ends up going into a shallow pond. They go to try and get it when they see some ducks. The ducks end up swimming around the ball. Caillou wonders just what the ducks are doing and Daddy explains that they're looking for food underwater. Caillou wonders just how it is that ducks get food underwater. Caillou wonders how they do that. They end up getting scared away. Daddy then gets an idea. He and Caillou hide behind some brush and watch the ducks from a distance. Daddy teaches Caillou how to quack, which he thinks is funny at first, but he soon picks up and uses to call the ducks towards them. The ducks come very close and Caillou is very happy to be so close to one of the ducklings. Eventually, they go back in the water and Daddy explains that the Mother just doesn't want the ducklings to get lost. Then, Mommy calls. Caillou and Daddy had forgotten all about the ball, but it's floated so close to the shore that Daddy can simply walk right into the water and retrieve. They finally go home and that evening it's bathtime for Caillou, but he doesn't want to take bath, until he sees the rubber ducky in the water. "Caillou's Canoe Trip" Caillou is out in the wilderness with Grandpa and Daddy. They're going to be sleeping in a log cabin, but first they have to get there. Caillou enjoys the sounds and sights of nature, spotting a snail and a butterfly. Eventually, they all reach their canoe and Caillou is starting to get a bit upset. He wishes that Mommy were with them. Grandpa helps out by giving him his own life jacket. Daddy also has a special surprise: Rexy! Finally, Grandpa gives Caillou a camera to take photographs of anything special that he sees and now Caillou is feeling better. They take off canoeing and Caillou has Rexy help him to be a lookout to spot interesting things to photograph. Caillou spots a blue heron and Daddy snaps a picture of it. Caillou then gets touch a bulrush plant. He spots a beaver, but then accidentally drops Rexy in the water. Fortunately, Grandpa is able to retrieve him before he can get lost. Afterwards, Grandpa shows Caillou a piece of wood which has been chewed up by a beaver. Then they spot a beaver lodge and Caillou gets to see one of the beavers entering the lodge. They finally hit land and that evening, they roast marshmallows, but Caillou is starting to get sleepy. He insists that he isn't sleepy and wants to roast lots of marshmallows, but he dozes off and starts dreaming. When he finally arrives back at home, he shows Mommy all of the neat pictures they took in a photo album. "Disappearing Carrots" Caillou and Rosie are inside, waiting for Mommy to finish some special treat which she's making.. Caillou says that Teddy is hungry and Rosie says that her toy Elle is hungry too. Mommy tells them that she's not finished with what she's making yet. She asks them to go outside and gather carrots, which she'll use to make bunny carrots for them. So they go outside and start gathering the carrots and meanwhile, Mom decides to set up lunch outside. Rosie tries to eat one of the carrots, but Caillou tells her that Mommy has to wash it off first. Mommy tells them that they have to wash their hands before they can eat and so they set down the carrots on the picnic blanket and head inside. While they're gone, Gilbert comes by and accidentally knocks over the container that was holding the carrots. When Caillou and Rosie come back outside, the carrots are gone. Mommy calls it the Mystery of the Disappearing Carrots. Caillou spots a little white rabbit in the garden. He goes inside to tell Mommy about it, but when they come back out, they only find Gilbert in the garden. Caillou then spots a furry tail that he thinks could be the rabbit, but it turns out it's just Rosie's bunny Elle. Caillou's upset, but then turns around and notices that the rabbit is eating the carrot which he's been holding. Mommy warns him to be careful with it since he doesn't know it, but then Mr. Hinkle and a lady show up. It turns out that the rabbit is Snowball, the pet of the lady, Nancy, who is Mr. Hinkle's sister. "Who's Mooing?" Caillou's going on a picnic with his family. Caillou is starting to get bored just waiting in the car. Rosie is asleep, so she can't play. He spots some cows and wants to stop and check them out. Mommy and Daddy decide that they'll just stop and have their picnic near the cows. Caillou goes over to check out the cows and Rosie has woken up too. She can't see the cows very well because of the tall fence, so she gets a lift to see them better and Caillou does too. They look at them for a little bit, but then Rosie says that she's getting hungry. They go off and have their picnic. Caillou eats very quickly, wanting to go back and watch the cows some more. Daddy brings along a toy plane of Caillou's. He asks Caillou if he can try it out and Caillou agrees. Daddy does well flying it and then Caillou tries it, but it ends up going into the cow pen. Daddy steps in with the cows and is able to retrieve the plane. Later, everyone has chocolate milk. Caillou and Rosie both moo to express their approval. Caillou's Canoe Trip: When Caillou, Grandpa and Daddy go on a canoe trip, Caillou gets to see some wild animals in their natural habitat. He is amazed to see a dragonfly, a blue heron, and a beaver working on his beaver lodge. When they get to the cabin, they gather wood for the campfire and Caillou learns how to roast marshmallows on the fire. The Duck Family: While Caillou and his family are on a picnic at the park, his beach ball accidentally rolls into a pond. Caillou sees a family of ducks swimming in the pond and wants to take a closer look. Dad shows Caillou a neat trick to call the ducks. They hide behind some bushes and the ducks come out of the water. They find Caillou's missing ball and head home where a special surprise is waiting for Caillou at bath time. Disappearing Carrots: When a white rabbit eats a bunch of carrots set aside for a picnic lunch, Caillou and Rosie go looking him. Caillou is just about to give up when the rabbit shows up. They soon discover that it isn't a wild rabbit, his name is Snowball and he belongs to Mr. Hinkle's sister. Who's Mooing?: Caillou and his family are leaving for a picnic in the country but the ride feels very long for Caillou, especially since he cannot play with his toy airplane because he might wake Rosie. When they stop at a gas station, Caillou spots some cows in a field next to a picnic area. The family decides to have the picnic there, where they have a close encounter with some cows.

All Around the Block!

S3 E15 All Around the Block!

Caillou learns more about living in his neighborhood and what that entails in this Caillou episode. "Caillou's Horn" Gilbert is outside chasing a butterfly. Caillou tries to catch the butterfly with his net, but misses. Sarah shows up and shows Caillou an old toy horn of hers. She explains that she and her Mom are going to go and donate some of her old toys to the Community Center. She says she has to leave, so Caillou hands her back the horn, but she says that her Mom said it's okay for him to keep it. Caillou loves the horn, but at lunchtime, Mommy tells him that it's not an appropriate time to play with it. She sets it aside, but Rosie gets ahold of it and so Mommy moves it out of her reach too. Caillou eats quickly so that he can play with the horn some more. He goes outside to play with the horn and ends up scaring away some birds. Mommy comes out and says that she's taking Rosie to the store with her. She asks if Caillou wants to come and he asks if he can bring the horn, but she says that he can't. So he decides he doesn't want to go. He's starting to get annoyed at how it seems like it's never the right time to play with the horn. Daddy says that he'll take him someplace where he can play with the horn all he wants. Caillou goes to the playground and has lots of fun. Atop a slide, he spots Sarah and calls out to her, but she can't hear him. So he toots the horn and it gets Sarah's attention. Finally, Caillou found the right time to toot the horn. "The Mighty Oak" Caillou is outside swinging in his tire swing, while Daddy reads the paper. He hears an odd and loud sound and wonders what it could be. It turns out that it's coming from Mr. Hinkle's house. Caillou and Daddy go over and find that a hired worker is cutting down Mr. Hinkle's tree. Mr. Hinkle explains that the tree is sick and the branches are getting weak. He's having the man cut it down, so that it doesn't fall down on its own and hurt anyone. Later, Caillou and Daddy have the man come and examine their tree. Caillou's worried that he's going to cut down the tree, but he says that the tree is healthy and he just needs to trim a few branches on it. Caillou decides that it would be a good idea to plant another tree to keep it company. He suggests that Mr. Hinkle also plant a new tree to replace his old one. They all go to a nursery and Caillou wonders where the trees are. A lady there points them out, but Caillou says that they aren't trees, they're just plants. The lady explains that they're baby trees. Caillou considers a pine tree. He figures if they got it, then they would have a Christmas tree all year long. They finally get a tree and plant it and Daddy shows Caillou some plant food. He explains that this is a special case and from now on, the tree will just need water and sunlight to grow. Caillou wonders when the tree will be as big as the one they have now and Daddy tells him that it'll probably be by the time he grows up. It starts to get stormy and they go inside, but Caillou is worried about the tree. Daddy decides to get a stake to hold the tree up and Caillou places his red toy car behind it and also covers it with a blanket. "Get Well Mr. Hinkle" Caillou is in the living room, playing with Rexy, when the mail comes. He gets the mail from the mailman and then takes it to Daddy. He asks if there's anything for him, but Daddy says that there isn't. He does, however, point out a catalogue that was actually supposed to go to Mr. Hinkle. He asks Caillou to deliver it to Mr. Hinkle. Caillou gets into it and has Daddy dress him up as mailman. He and Daddy then take the catalogue to Mr. Hinkle, who shows him that he's already received a copy of that particular catalogue. So he lets Caillou keep it. Back at home, Caillou notes that Mr. Hinkle still had his pajamas on. Daddy thinks that maybe Mr. Hinkle wasn't feeling well. So Caillou and Daddy put together a get-well package for Mr. Hinkle, with a card and flowers in vase which Caillou paints himself. They take it all to Mr. Hinkle, who is happy to receive it. He notices that the card features a bluebird, which is appropriate because he just got a new birdhouse. He asks Caillou to come back tomorrow and he'll show it to him. "Something For Everyone" Caillou is in a hurry. Mommy wants him to slow down because they're running a little early and they're not meeting his friends at the park till three. They get to the park, but find that it's closed for the day because they're putting down fertilizer. Caillou and all of his friends are disappointed, but Caillou invites everyone to his house to play and Mommy gives the okay. At his house, they decide to make a sandcastle. Caillou has to share his bucket and shovels, which he's a little reluctant to do at first. There ends up being a problem anyway because there aren't enough buckets and shovels for everyone to play. Then, there's another argument when everyone wants to play on the tire swing. Caillou goes inside and says that he wants everyone to leave. He explains what happened and Mommy suggests that he come up with a game everyone can play together. So they all play freeze-tag. It comes time to go, but tomorrow, they can play at the park like they wanted to today. In the puppet segment, the puppets are reading a story. As they're reading, Rexy notices that there's a balloon near him. He figures it must have traveled all throughout the neighborhood before finally reaching him. He makes up a song all about its journeys. Teddy decides to go and get something to tie the balloon down. As he does this, the balloon pulls Rexy upward and it's not long before he's floating in the air. He calls for Gilbert's help, but Gilbert can't really do anything. Teddy comes back out and tosses Rexy the string he went to get. Rexy finally makes it back to down to the ground and says he has an idea. So Gilbert and Teddy finish the story, while Rexy floats atop the now tied-down balloon and looks all throughout the neighborhood. Caillou is exploring his neighborhood too, but he's staying on the ground. The Mighty Oak: When Mr. Hinkle has a tree cut down, Caillou is afraid his swing tree is next! Dad decides to plant a new tree so it's a trip to the Nursery. Caillou learns about the differences between trees with needles and leaves. When the new tree is planted, Caillou gives it a blanket to keep warm and a toy car to play with in case it gets lonely at night. Caillou's Horn: When Sarah gives Caillou an old toy horn, Caillou wants to blow it everywhere. But he quickly learns, not everyone wants to hear it all the time. Caillou is frustrated, until Dad suggests they go to the park. There, Caillou uses the horn to signal Sarah from afar. There is a time and place for everything! Get Well Mr. Hinkle: When Caillou dresses up like a mailman to deliver Mr. Hinkle's misdirected mail, he finds out Mr. Hinkle is sick. With help from Mom, Caillou makes up a get-well card, and together they deliver it, along with some much needed chicken soup! Something for Everyone: When the park is closed for the day, Caillou's friends come over to his house to play. But when no one will share the sandbox toys, or the swing, Caillou wishes everyone would just go home. Mom proposes a game everyone can play, so Caillou suggests Frozen Tag! When it's time for everyone to go home, Caillou wonders, can't his friends stay just a little longer?

Doing It Together!

S3 E16 Doing It Together!

In this Caillou episode we explore the things we do together: Things we need help with and the things that require more than one person. "Caillou Helps Grandpa" Caillou and Daddy are outside, walking to Grandpa's house. It's a cold winter day and everything is covered in snow. Caillou's starting to get a bit impatient. He can't wait to get to Grandpa's so they can go skating. They get there, but the driveway is covered in snow and so if they want to go to the skating rink, they're going to have to shovel out first. Caillou volunteers to help, but soon finds that he has trouble keeping up. Daddy, however, praises him and tells him to keep going. His shovel gets stuck in the snow. He pulls on it hard and manages to get it out. He then starts a snowball fight with Daddy and Grandpa. This is fun for a little bit, but then Grandpa stops it and says that if they're ever going to go skating, they need to get going on shoveling the driveway. Caillou finds a green pot laying in the snow. He uses it to make neat snowcastles, which Daddy and Grandpa compliment. Grandma calls everyone in for a break and inside, Grandpa and Daddy are both looking tired. They suggest that maybe they could go skating tomorrow, but Caillou doesn't even care anymore anyway. He's at the window watching a snowplow pile up even more snow in the driveway. He can't wait to go outside and build more snowcastles, while Daddy and Grandpa sigh resignedly at the prospect of shoveling out more snow. "Our Rocket Ship" Caillou and Leo are outside playing with their toy rocket ships. They've decided that they want to play all day. Daddy takes them to the park with Rosie. There, they decide to make a spacestation for their ships in the sand. Rosie sees that they're having fun and tries to join in, but Caillou just gets annoyed at her and makes her leave. Daddy takes her away so that they can play a game together. It comes time to leave because Rosie has to take a nap. Caillou's upset that they have to leave just because of Rosie's nap, but decides that they can make a second spacestation at the sandbox at home. At home, Rosie cries because she doesn't want to take a nap. She wants to go outside and play with Caillou. Mommy comes out and tells Caillou and Leo that they have to be a little quieter as they're playing so Rosie can take her nap. Caillou really is unhappy about this until Mommy plays space explorer with them. They have fun playing this and then Mommy has them land on "Planet Daddy," who was out mowing the lawn. Mr. Hinkle shows up. He has a box which his refrigerator came in which he has no use for and thinks maybe Caillou and Leo could use it for something. They decide to make it into a spaceship and Daddy helps. Rosie comes out again and wants to help too, but when she scribbles on the box, Caillou sends her off again. Mommy takes her inside, saying that she has something she can do which Caillou will like. They come back out with a flag for the spaceship, which Caillou does indeed really like. They pretend to launch the spaceship and Rosie gets to sit next to Caillou. "Backyard Bowlers" Caillou and Rosie are spending the afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa. Caillou spots Grandpa's old bowling trophy sitting on a table. Grandpa decides to fish out his old bowling ball to show Caillou. Caillou checks it out and doesn't understand how anyone could play with a ball that is so heavy. Grandpa decides to set up a miniature bowling game with pins and a ball that are better suited for Caillou and Rosie. They use soda bottles for pins. Caillou tries it out and manages to knock down a couple of the pins. Grandpa then gets a phone call and so he has to go inside. He suggests that Caillou teach the game to Rosie while he's gone. Caillou tries, but at first Rosie doesn't even get the ball anywhere close to the pins. They're both disappointed at first, but then Caillou has Rosie move closer and this time she bowls a strike. They then both go back inside and Grandma presents Grandpa his bowling trophy, shined up nicely. She also presents Caillou and Rosie each with miniature trophies and says that Caillou's is also for being such a good teacher to Rosie. Mommy comes and Caillou shows off the trophies and tells her all about bowling. "Caillou's Milk Run" It's morning and Caillou seems like he's still tired. He yawns and Mommy yawns too. He finds it funny that the yawning seems to be catching. This morning, Daddy is pretending to be a chef and says that he's taking special requests for Daddy's Dinner. He even speaks in a bad French accent. Rosie wants cereal, but Caillou spills the milk and Gilbert licks it up. There's no more milk, which really upsets Rosie because she wanted cereal, but won't eat it without milk. Caillou decides that he and Mommy should go to the store to get some more. Meanwhile, Daddy says that he'll get Rosie to eat something else. Caillou and Mommy go to the store and they also play a game of red-light / green-light. He also finds a picture of the sun on the sidewalk in chalk, to which he adds a smiley face. They get the milk and once back home, Rosie still wants cereal, despite everything she's now already eaten. She gets her cereal, with milk and Caillou plays red-light / green-light with her. In the puppet segment, Rexy is trying to plant a flower. Gilbert and Teddy ask if they can help him, but he says that he wants to do it on his own. He's trying to roll the flower pot into position and finally manages to get it up. He wonders what he should do next. Gilbert and Teddy try to help again, but he says that he wants to figure it out on his own. He thinks for a minute and admits that he wants their help. Gilbert says that he needs to put dirt in the pot next and suggests that he use a shovel. Rexy does, but is only able to get a little dirt into the pot with his small shovel. He asks Gilbert and Teddy to come and help him out. They do and it's not long before the flower is planted and watered. Rexy says that they can all talk to the flower too, but Gilbert and Teddy aren't so sure about that. Our Rocket Ship: Caillou and Leo are playing with their rocket ships in the park. Rosie wants to help them build the space station but she accidentally wrecks it. Caillou's frustration builds up when they have to go home because of Rosie's nap. At home, Caillou and Leo continue their space game and are thrilled when Mr. Hinkle gives them a cardboard box which they transform into a rocket ship. They all work very hard to decorate it. When Rosie comes out to help, Caillou is worried she's going to wreck it and doesn't want her help. But with Mommy's help, Rosie makes the perfect final touch for the rocket ship: a flag! Caillou realizes that Rosie can help too and invites her to join him on the first mission in their new rocket ship! Caillou Helps Grandpa: On a winter day, Dad and Caillou go over to Grandpa's with their skates. What was supposed to be a skating outing becomes a shoveling chore because of all the snow that has accumulated in Grandpa's driveway. Soon, Caillou finds a way to turn this into a game and has a lot of fun making snow castles. When they are finally done and ready to go skating, the snowplow passes in front of Grandpa's and leaves more snow to shovel. Still, Caillou is delighted: they can make plenty of new snow castles! Backyard Bowlers: When Caillou and Rosie stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house, Grandpa uses pop bottles and a rubber ball to create a kid's bowling alley in the backyard. Grandpa teaches Caillou to bowl, but when he is called inside, it's Caillou's turn to teach as he shows Rosie how to play. Rosie and Caillou have a great time playing together and when they come in for a snack they have another surprise: Grandma has made a little bowling trophy for each of them. Caillou's Milk Run: Caillou accidentally spills the rest of the milk before Rosie could get her cereal. She is very upset and Caillou suggests they go get some more milk at the corner store. On their way there, Caillou is proud to show things to his Mommy. He picks up a piece of chalk left on the sidewalk and draws a smiley face. At the street intersection, he shows Mom that he knows when it is time to cross safely. Mom is also proud of him. They get some milk and bread and come back home. Caillou can't wait to eat cereal too but is disappointed when he finds out there is only enough cereal for Rosie! Rosie graciously agrees to share the cereal with her big brother and they have a great snack together.
