S1 E1 • Episode 1

A beautiful young girl named Gabriela and her uncle follow towards Ilhéus in search of a better life. Nacib, the owner of the local bar becomes furious to learn that his cook, Filomena, will leave Ilhéus. The Mayor Ramiro Bastos orders the priest to perform an holy procession to make rain fall in Ilhéus and stop the drought that threatens the local main product: cocoa.

Nacib takes Gabriela as his cook at the "Vesúvio" bar. Maria Machadão calls her girls to help with the holy mantle that they will take to the procession. After bathing in the public fountain, Gabriela starts calling the colonels' attention. Gabriela receives an unexpected proposal.

Gerusa cares about Malvina's feminist ideas. Nacib and Gabriela sleep together again. Zarolha goes to the Mayor's house and demands respect for the Bataclã girls.

Berto concludes that the only way to stop the strike of the Bataclã girls is convincing the wives of Ilhéus to accept them in the procession. Berto's father, Amâncio, promises Lindinalva's father that his son will marry as soon as possible. Mundinho Falcão arrives at Ilhéus.

The crowd cheers the rain that falls on Ilhéus. Ramiro dislikes the presence of Mundinho in the city and the fact that he might interfere with his post as Mayor. Zarolha finds Nacib and Gabriela kissing and promises to kill her.

Zarolha tells Nacib that she will leave Ilhéus. Nacib declares himself to Gabriela. Ramiro is furious to read in the newspaper about the precarious situation of the port of Ilhéus. Sinhazinha tells Jesuíno that she doesn't feel good, but he forces her to have sex. Ramiro discovers that Mundinho is funding the newspaper and declares him his nemesis. Juvenal invites Gerusa to the ball.

Nacib says goodbye to Zarolha. The newspaper's editor warns Mundinho that Ramiro Bastos is a dangerous man but Mundinho states that he will face Ramiro no matter what. Lindinalva's parents forbid her from going to the ball before the wedding. Osmundo apologizes to Sinhazinha for the kiss and asks her to come back to the office to complete the treatment. Gerusa and Mundinho delight each other and Ramiro realizes that he must set them apart.

Ramiro and Mundinho exchange insults at the ball. Josué feels jealous of Malvina for seeing her dance with Berto. Gerusa's father, Alfredo, arrives from Salvador with bad news. Ramiro is furious to learn that Alfredo didn't get any funds from the governor to fix the roads. Osmundo and Sinhazinha kiss passionately.

Sinhazinha and Osmundo say they are in love with each other. Tonico lies to Nacib, saying that he has no interest in Gabriela. Mundinho tries to approach Gerusa, but she runs away, following the guidelines of his grandfather. The carriage in which Lindinalva's parents traveled collides with a truck on the road. Ramiro is furious to learn that the accident with the carriage was caused by a hole in the road. Mundinho sends Douglas denounce the incompetence of Ramiro in the newspaper. Sinhazinha refuses to have sex with Jesuíno.

Jesuíno rapes Sinhazinha. Nacib feels jealous of Gabriela for seeing his clients always looking at her. Doroteia advises Lindinalva to live with another woman to preserve her honor until she marries Berto. Maria Machadão hires Anabela and Prince Sandra to perform at Bataclã. Berto invites Juvenal to go to the Bataclã. Malvina asks Josué for a kiss. Tonico tells Nacib that the only way men will respect Gabriela is if he marries her.

Tonico tries to seduce Fabiana, but is stopped by Olga. Gerusa looks at Mundinho from her bedroom's window. Berto sees Lindinalva crying and promises to take care of her. Maria Machadão announces the debut of Prince Sandra and Anabela in Bataclã. Sinhazinha lies to Jesuíno and goes looking for Osmundo. Juvenal confesses Teodora he has never slept with a woman. Lindinalva says she will take care of her parents' cabinet but Berto doesn't approve. Zulmira alerts Lindinalva about Berto's behavior and advises the girl to look for another place to stay. Sinhazinha reveals to the other church ladies of Ilhéus that she has not confessed in the church for a long time. Nacib asks Gabriela in marriage.

Gabriela refuses Nacib's request. The women in the church ask why Sinhazinha hasn't confessed yet. Jesuíno warns Sinhazinha that he will travel. Gerusa asks Malvina for the adult book she has been reading. Berto forces Lindinalva to sleep with him. Nacib gives heels to Gabriela so she could wear during the cinema.

Sinhazinha's maid starts suspecting her lady's absence for so long. Juvenal tells Teodora he will only lie with the woman he loves. Lindinalva becomes afraid of Berto not marrying her after the two had slept together. Anabela debuts, dancing the dance of the seven veils and makes the colonels lose their breath. Mundinho asks Josué to help him meet Gerusa and the teacher arranges a date at the cinema. Nacib takes Gabriela to the cinema. Mundinho sits next to Gerusa during the movie and puts his hand over hers.

Gerusa asks the teacher to switch places with her in the cinema. Olga tells Ramiro that Gerusa met Mundinho at the cinema. Sinhazinha is afraid that her maid might discover her affair with Osmundo. Gabriela tells Nacib that she doesn't need gifts to be happy with him. Neia follows Sinhazinha and sees her going to Osmundo's office. Berto pays Lindinalva's mortage and forces her to sleep with him dressed as a bride. Ramiro asks Gerusa about the date with Mundinho at the movies. Gerusa confesses to her mother that she is attracted by Mundinho. Mundinho faces the Mayor and warns him that he will marry Gerusa.

Neia blackmails Sinhazinha into giving her clothes in exchange for her silence. Ramiro demands Juvenal to flirt with Gerusa. After discovering that Berto is sleeping with Lindinalva, Doroteia determines that her grandson can no more marry her. Amâncio tells Berto to go hide on colonel Melk's farm. Malvina ends her relationship with Josué. Juvenal advises Berto to marry Lindinalva despise her not being a virgin anymore. Malvina promises Mundinho to help him meet with Gerusa.

Gabriela tells Nacib that she loves him. Maria Machadão forces Lindinalva to serve Colonel Melk and the girl cries. Gabriela tells Arminda that she's not interested in marriage. Osmundo promises to flee with Sinhazinha and says that they will be happy together. Florzinha and Quinquina suspect that Sinhazinha is cheating on Colonel Jesuíno. Gabriela climbs a house and leaves all Ilhéus stunned with her attitude.

Nacib asks Gabriela get off the roof and complains about Gabriela being to wild. Tonic forces Olga to confess at church. Berto explains to Fagundes why is hidden and sets his eyes on another virgin girl. Clemente listens to Berto telling Fagundes about Nacib and Gabriela and decides to go to Ilhéus. Mundinho informs the colonels that he managed to obtain the funds to improve the road from Ilhéus to Itabuna. Glória sets another date with Professor Josué. Sinhazinha comes home late and finds ou that her husband arrived home early from the trip. Nacib proposes again to Gabriela.

Nacib celebrates the upcoming wedding. Mundinho Falcão and Gerusa kiss. Colonel Ramiro becomes furious to read the newspaper's new about Mundinho. A new girl arrives at Bataclã. Nacib invites Tonico to be his best man at his wedding. Osmundo and Sinhazinha's plan to runaway starts. Doroteia suspects that Sinhazinha is cheating her husband and prepares a plan. Colonel Jesuíno beats his wife and breaks her most valuable asset.

Tonico and Zarolha plot to break Gabriela and Nacib.

Fagundes and Clemente discover Lindinalva's body. Gabriela meets with the Catholic women at the church meeting. Nacib goes out to look for his wife but is unable to find her.

Gabriela tells Nacib that she can no longer be a "civilized" lady.

Lindinalva says to Fagundes and Clemente that Juvenal sent his brother to kill her. Nacib scolds Gabriela for her behavior. Sandra surprises Anabela with Ramiro and threatens to kill them both.

Berto shows interest in Zuleika and invites her and her family for dinner. Coriolano asks Josué who is the woman he is having an affair with. Iracema gets ready for her wedding night with Jesuíno.

Iracema succeeds to show trick Jesuíno about her virginity. Fagundes and Clemente offer shelter to Lindinalva. Mundinho suspects that Ramiro is responsible for a crime and tells Douglas to report it in the newspaper. Ramiro orders Gerusa to marry Juvenal. Ramiro sends Melk to set fire to the newspaper building and scare colonel Altino. Arminda realizes that Zarolha is trying to poison Gabriela against Nacib. Gerusa rejects Juvenal's wedding proposal in front of the whole family.

Fagundes fails to hit Mundinho and runs from Ilhéus policemen. Gabriela makes a difficult choice to save a friend.

Ramiro, Melk and the other gunmen try to leave Nacib's house unnoticed. Josué fless from colonel Coriolano dressed as a woman and is caught by a familiar face. Tonico flirts with Fabiana and sets up a date. Doroteia encourages Berto to find out who is the gay colonel. Ramiro decides to intern Gerusa at a convent until she gives up on Mundinho. Berto discovers Lindinalva is alive. Olga catches Tonico and Fabiana together.
