In the emotional season premiere, spiritual coach Iyanla Vanzant travels to Yonkers, New York, the hometown of multiplatinum rapper and actor DMX. In one of the most controversial sessions of her career, tensions rise as Iyanla attempts to help the strained relationship between DMX and his son Xavier. During the special 90-minute episode, DMX and Iyanla tackle additional topics, including drugs, women and his arrest record. Iyanla also sits down with DMX's estranged wife, Tashera Simmons.

Iyanla works with Sheree Whitfield, formerly of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, on her co-parenting relationship with her ex-husband, retired NFL player Bob Whitfield. Iyanla sits down for a tense and emotional conversation with Sheree at the reality star's unfinished mansion, Château Sheree, to find out what's really going on behind her tough exterior. Then, Iyanla and Bob head to the Georgia Dome to discuss Bob and Sheree's volatile relationship history. Later, Iyanla meets with the couple to talk about what is expected of them as co-parents, despite their contentious divorce. Secrets are revealed, truths are uncovered, and emotions run high as Sheree and Bob reveal how they really feel about each other.

Iyanla hits the road to help a family in crisis in Stockbridge, Georgia. Popular radio personality Sasha the Diva is caught in the middle of a tumultuous relationship between her 42-year-old husband of two years, Kevin, and her 17-year-old son, Dominique. In the time since Sasha and Kevin were married, his harsh parenting style and her son's rebellious behavior have left the family in ruins. As the damage piles up, Iyanla intervenes to open the lines of communication between all three family members—before it's too late.

S2 E4 • Fix My Sexless Marriage

Iyanla works with a couple from Knoxville, Tennessee, who say that they are trapped in a sexless marriage. Tiffany and Nick have been married for five years, but they admit to rarely having sex sometimes going a full year without being intimate. Tiffany feels that the problem rests with Nick's lack of initiative. Nick says Tiffany's nagging and controlling ways turn him off. But sex is not the real problem here; painful events from their pasts and a lack of intimacy are tearing this couple apart. Iyanla steps in to address the root causes of the couple's marital dysfunction before their marriage dissolves.

S2 E5 • Fix My Overweight Family

In an emotional episode, Iyanla helps members of the Pace Sisters, an acclaimed gospel singing group of siblings, who are all fighting the same lifelong battle with weight. Seven of the nine sisters agree to sit down with Iyanla, but sadly, one of the sisters, Melonda, has a stroke before she has a chance to speak with Iyanla. Clearly, the clock is ticking. Iyanla's work is cut out for her as she tries to help these women uncover and confront what is weighing them down mentally and physically. Perhaps Iyanla's biggest challenge, though, is to get these women to open up, which conflicts with their strict Christian faith that has taught them to put all of their problems in God's hands.
