Nick King, ship owners' agent, receives a mysterious blood-stained package through the mail, with a terse note asking him to deliver it to a third officer Svenson - who turns out to be an attrac- tive female officer on a Norwegian ship. The parcel contains a model ship in a bottle, sent by her uncle who collects model ships. King's suspicions about the innocent looking model are confirmed when Aline Svenson is offered a large sum of money for the bottle and then finds her uncle murdered.

A former pilot has been going blind over a number of years and wants to take one last trip on the Saguenay River. His wife is concerned that he is going to take his own life so Fox and King go aboard to make sure he is safe.
