S2 E1 • Trigger Options
What is the right trigger for your long range application? A common misunderstanding is that light triggers increase the mechanical precision or accuracy of a rifle. Although crisp triggers with fast lock time can really feel nice to the shooter, it is still the shooter's responsibility to follow through with and apply all the fundamental marksmanship skills he or she has learned. Bad triggers do not make rifles shoot worse, they make shooters shoot worse. Experience and training are the solution to getting past trigger designs that seem too crude or too stiff. Even bad triggers do not hinder experienced marksmen that much. Learn why some triggers are designed the way they are and get a better feel for what trigger design might best suit your long range demands. S2 E4 • Scopes for Extreme Long Range Shooting
Scopes for extreme long range shooting must have the correct features. Long range optics selection is extremely important and the wrong scope can leave even the best sniper rifle impotent. In this video, Rex introduces you to the mechanics of extreme range shooting so that we may begin to understand what features we will need in our long range scope. The illustrations and tables used in this video are now available at: http://postimage.org/gallery/bxlfasze/4e32d9e1/ All of the music, illustrations, tables, and photography in this film were created by TiborasaurusRex, an unsigned artist. S2 E5 • Scope Turrets pt. 1
In this section of videos on long range scope features, Rex reviews long range scope turrets, tracking, MRAD VS MOA, range of adjustment, units per revolution, scope tube diameter, optical vignetting, tapered scope bases, magnification, fixed VS variable power scopes, Simo Hayha, Vasily Grigoryevich Zaytsev, Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Kris Kyle, Sampson, King David, Carlos Hathcock, magnification values for long range applications, eye relief, field of view, light transmission, optical clarity, and exit pupil diameter. Rex also reviews reticles, both Mil-Dot and moa based designs, and objective lenses. Lots more to come! All of the music in this film was created by TiborasaurusRex, an unsigned artist. S2 E7 • TOP Sniper Scopes in History - Overview
Top snipers in history ranked by the most confirmed kills - what rifles did they use, what scopes dis they use? What magnification worked for them? SNIPER 101 - Optical Sight Parameters - Magnification - Historical Overview Why listen to arguments between your uncle Pete and the guy at the gun store over long range scope magnification when you can simply watch this historical and statistical review of the world's most effectively employed sniper rifle systems and learn how it really fits together. Rex's historical review of sniper scope magnification serves as a informed backdrop to the subject which we will explore much more thoroughly in this series on long range optical sight parameters. All of the music in this film was created by TiborasaurusRex, an unsigned artist. Song Titles: Dawn of the Day, Frozen Fate, Particle Jam Music and Lyrics written by: TiborasuarusRex Vocals and Instrumentation by: TiborasaurusRex Album: N/A Most of the photography was done by Rex in this video, but fortunately I was not present during WWII to get many of these pics, so some of these pics are obviously not taken by me or my staff of two cats.
S2 E8 • Variable vs. Fixed Magnification Scopes
In this video, variable and fixed magnification scopes for real-world long range shooting applications are examined in detail. Durability, ruggedness, zero retention, optical clarity, light transmission, reticle issues, ranging reticules, cross-hair fineness, focal planes, magnification consistency and battlefield-psychology of the choices are compared. If you want this whole video summed up in one statement: "Fixed power scopes are the way to go unless you want to spend a couple grand." All of the music in this film was created by TiborasaurusRex, an unsigned artist. S2 E9 • Scope Magnification Values
Which power scope is the best for long range shooting? Rex Reviews answers the question based on your particular mission criteria. Too much magnification can limit your field of view. Extremely small targets at long range may require higher magnification. This short discussion is not the end all of your optics selection, but will hopefully give you a wider perspective on all the issues that need to be taken into consideration when choosing your optical magnification parameters. All of the music in this film was created by TiborasaurusRex, an unsigned artist. S2 E10 • Effective Reticles and Objective Lens Sizes
Which scope reticle is the best for long range shooting? Mildot, moa scale, MP8, HORUS vision, and BDC reticles are all examined and compared for their long range effectiveness. What objective lens size is right for your purposes? See what Rex has to say. BDCs are great for medium ranges out to 600m, but at extreme ranges, the firing solutions become exceedingly dynamic and change with each and every variable, so a straight mildot or moa based reticule is much better suited to shooting beyond 1000 yards. All of the music in this film was created by TiborasaurusRex, an unsigned artist. Song Titles: Dawn of the Day, Minefield Music and Lyrics written by: TiborasuarusRex Vocals and Instrumentation by: TiborasaurusRex Album: N/A
S2 E11 • Scope Quality by Brand
Long range rifle scope turret quality, glass quality. lens origin, and brand names are all compared in this video. Rex explains the differences between chromatic, achromatic, and apochromatic lenses. What are ED lenses? How do HD lenses work? How are APO lenses put together? Where are these different lenses made? Does Leupold really get their glass from China? What do we want to look for in terms of scope quality. Rex explains it all and begins the process of reviewing the representative long range scope in each of the major brands. Barska and BSA scopes compared in this video.
