Résumé : It was never intended to be published: David Mack says of this story: “It wasn’t intended to be published. In fact, I came up with it at the time when I was writing Circle of Blood to help me give the Kabuki universe more reality and substance in my mind. In each of my works, there are pages that never make it to the printer. They’re pages that often help me correct mistakes and inconsistencies. Sometimes I’ll also have completely finished a scene and decide that, in the end, it doesn’t add anything more to the story. So I set it aside. In fact, originally, Dance of Death was made up of pages that I removed from Fear the Reaper. It’s a story that fits perfectly into the Kabuki universe, but is also independent. It’s a story in its own right, recounting some of the missions of the Masks of Noh before the deep crisis that erupts in Circle of Blood. Such as the way it blends poetry, action, and atmosphere.”
