Each issue began with a front piece of a turtles character reciting a monologue pertaining to the following story to the reader and ending with the words "let me tell you a story". Despite the fact that the series was short lived it introduced many characters and themes which would be important not only in the turtles comics but in the franchise as a whole. Among the character debuts found in the book are Leatherhead, The Rat King, Complete Carnage and Radical.
