Fit Test

S1 E1 Fit Test

The INSANITY Workout is considered an extreme workout. It is not meant for beginners, or even for people at an intermediate stage. Shaun T himself advises people to consult with their doctors before attempting it, and states that the intense level of cardio, plyometrics and calisthenics will challenge even incredibly fit and athletic individuals. In order to help you determine if you are physically prepared to undertake the INSANITY Workout, the program comes with a Fit Test with which to gauge your suitability.

Plyometric Cardio Circuit

S1 E2 Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Day 2, and you’re about to get clobbered. If you thought the Fitness Test was hard, than hold on to your hat because Plyometric Cardio Circuit will challenge you like nothing before. The warm up is intense, and the workouts will push you past your limits. This is the Insanity workout that breaks most people. This is the workout that makes people think: I can’t do this. But you can. You need to read this review, mentally prepare for what’s before you, and then focus, and go.

Cardio Power & Resistance

S1 E3 Cardio Power & Resistance

As far as INSANITY workouts go, this one is tough, but not the toughest. You get thirty second water breaks between each set, and the main workout, while pretty brutal, spreads the exercises evenly between lower and upper body, so no one area gets taxed unduly. If you pace yourself, make the most of your water breaks, and listen to Shaun, you should get an excellent workout that taxes you but won’t break you. Of course, the intensity level you bring will determine how hard the workout is, so listen to your body, and push yourself as hard as you can without compromising form!

Cardio Recovery

S1 E4 Cardio Recovery

Cardio Recovery is the workout performed once a week in order to allow your muscles and cardio engine to recover from the brutal intensity that is the INSANITY workout. As such, there is no cardio whatsoever in this workout, no leaping or running or anything that would cause your muscles to protest even further. Instead, Shaun will lead you through a half hour’s worth of stretching, yoga poses and deep muscle work.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Max Recovery

S1 E5 Max Recovery

This is the “recovery” workout for Phase II of Insanity. You will do this workout once each week for at least four weeks. It’s 47 minutes of low impact cardio. Since my experience with Cardio Recovery, I have learned to approach Insanity recovery workouts with caution. Low impact does not mean no pain or discomfort. Shaun T just finds different ways of bringing the burn without making you jump around. While your joints get a break for one day, your muscles and ligaments are still hard at work.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Pure Cardio

S1 E6 Pure Cardio

The INSANITY workout is considered by many to be the hardest workout out there, and the Pure Cardio workout might be one of the key reasons why. After the Warm Up, and while Stretching, Shaun T has a moment of quiet reflection, during which he confides to the camera that he’s genuinely worried about this workout. If that isn’t enough to send a chill down your throat, then I don’t know what is. What is clear is that you should not be attempting these workouts without permission from your licensed physician. This workout is strenuous. Take it seriously, and make sure you’re ready for this kind of insane intensity.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Cardio Abs

S1 E7 Cardio Abs

You should be hitting this INSANITY workout by the end of your second week, and if you’re following the schedule, it should come right on the heels of your Pure Cardio workout. Which means you’ll be hitting this already warmed up, but hopefully not completely burned out! Cardio Abs is only 17 minutes long, and as such you should be able to breeze through it quickly. Doesn’t mean it’s easy, but it does mean that while intense, it shouldn’t kill you to add it to the end of the Pure Cardio workout!

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Core Cardio & Balance

S1 E8 Core Cardio & Balance

Congratulations! If you’ve reached this INSANITY workout, it means you’re into the Recovery Week, and are halfway through your workout. That means you’ve put weeks of intense work behind you, and are ready to take a break before hitting the Max workouts that will push you to the limit for the remainder of the workout. Not that the Recovery Week is a walk in the park-this workout is legitimately challenging, and for most people would be brutal. Following what you’ve just been through though, it’s going to be a welcome change of pace. As Shaun T says, you don’t want to be burned out by the end of this exercise-you want to allow your body to be recovered by the end of the week, and ready for the intensity that comes later.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Max Interval Circuit

S1 E9 Max Interval Circuit

With this workout is the first Max workout of the second month, and you’ll come to it fresh (or not so fresh) from your third fit test. Your Recovery Week now behind you, your body rested and strong, it’s time to throw yourself into the next level of INSANITY, and see if you have what it takes to finish the sixty days.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Max Interval Plyo

S1 E10 Max Interval Plyo

If you’re doing this workout, you’re into your second month of INSANITY, and have already distinguished yourself the vast majority of people who fail out in their second week. You’re lean, your committed, and you’ve got your sights firmly on finishing that last day of the workout. However, as you’ve no doubt discovered, the Max workouts of the second month are a whole new kind of animal. If you thought the first INSANITY workouts were tough, well, this is where you’ve really got to dig deep.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Max Cardio Conditioning

S1 E11 Max Cardio Conditioning

The Max Cardio Conditioning is like the Pure Cardio Workout in that once it gets going, it doesn’t stop till the very end. No water breaks, no pauses, nothing but full on, intense working out for the whole duration. Which, given that the workout is 48 minutes, is a brutal length of time to last. Luckily there are a few exercises in the middle where Shaun lowers the intensity, in effect giving you time to recover, but still, it’s nothing close to getting a water break. Therefore pacing is key. Keep your eye on the clock, remember that this INSANITY workout gets tougher toward the end, and listen to Shaun when he tells you to watch your form and take a break whenever you need it.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Insane Abs

S1 E12 Insane Abs

This routine is perfect to add to the end of another workout. Shaun T makes Ariel (she’s in the blue tiny shorts) the star of this video. She’s got amazing abs. Ariel and Rachel (she’s in the black/pink outfit) have perfect form. Pay attention to them. They’re rockstars. Ariel also has no body fat in her torso. Not cool, Ariel.

Première diffusion : 1 juillet 2009

Max Interval Sports Training

S1 E13 Max Interval Sports Training

The Insanity Max Interval Sports Training DVD is for you if you like to do extremely difficult exercises! The Max Interval Sports are more intense than the other exercises as seen on the Insanity base 10 DVD program. With this DVD, Shaun T. trains you with many of the same exercises he uses to train professional athletes – after all, Shaun is a former track star, so watch out on this one!
