While on a jaunt about town, Garfield runs into Floyd the mouse and they begin to chat. In the meantime, a dog catcher comes by trying to catch a big, mean dog. The dog finds Garfield, so Garfield begins to bark like a canine to save himself. Floyd wants to learn the trick in case he comes across any crabby cats, so Garfield teaches him to meow. The dog comes across FLoyd, and he teaches the dog to squeak like a mouse. In the meantime, the dog catcher has become very confused, and captures Garfield. Imagine the surprise on his boss' face when his employee begins to claim he's found a barking cat, squeaking dog, and meowing mouse!

The gang decides to try out a new sport called pig ball, but Roy excludes himself--until he adds some rules of his own.

S1 E18 • Up a Tree

Nermal's come over for another visit, and Jon can't get over how cute he is. Garfield tries to be cute as well, but ends up destroying some of the items in the house, so Jon sends him outside. Garfield gets a craving to climb a tree, but he gets stuck as usual. As Garfield waits for someone to rescue him, Nermal comes by and joins Garfield in the tree. The firemen come, but they only take Nermal out of the tree! Finally as the sun sets, Jon comes up to rescue Garfield after he had been watching Garfield up there all day. A rather perturbed Garfield uses Jon's ladder to get down, and leaves Jon in the tree.

Jon buys a new talking, fortune telling scale. Garfield decides to turn the knob of it and afterwards Jon goes on it. The scale tells him that he is overweight so Jon decides to excercise and gets Garfield to excercise with him. After many excercises that went wront due to Garfield, Jon goes onto the scale again and the scale informs him that he is the correct weight for his size. The scale then tells him that his fortune is to punish his cat for tempering with the scales eariler. Uh-oh!

Jon's friends loan him their cabin the the woods for the weekend, so the entire crew packs up their things and head up to the mountains. Jon goes out to get food when he finds the cupboards empty, leaving Garfield and Odie alone in the cabin. However, it begins to snow very heavily, and the roads are closed. Jon decides to make it back to the cabin on foot, while Garfield curbs his appetite by eating pictures of food out of a cooking book. Will Jon be able to get back to the cabin, and will Garfield finally get some real food before he starves?

Orson begins to tell a story that Sheldon thinks is too scary. He shows that he's scared, which eventually leads to speculation that there is a monster on the farm.

Jon is tired of Garfield's laziness and antics, and Garfield is sick of Jon's lectures. Jon is so annoyed, he wishes that Garfield could be in his shoes and understand what he has to deal with. Garfield wishes that Jon knew how tough it is being a cat. So, the both of them go to bed and begin to dream. In the dream, they each switch bodies and begin to fully understand the problems the other has to deal with. The next morning, they wake up with the realization that their lives are not as bad as they first thought.

Jon is going to put on a magic show for the children's hospital, and his dusting off his old tricks (which are pretty lame.) So, Jon decides to go to magic shop to acquire some new and better magic tricks. Garfield goes with him, and happens to make enemies with the shop owner's dog. While trying to escape from the dog, Garfield gets mixed up in various magic tricks - including a real magic wand. Garfield accidentally breaks the wand, filling the shop with magic smoke and causing a few physical changes to the dog as well as himself.

Jon is sending his friend in Samoa a package, so Garfield hides in the box thinking that he'll be free from Monday. He goes through quite a rough trip from the post office to his destination, but Garfield finally arrives in Samoa. He realizes that Monday is finally over back home, but a native tells him that since they are many hours behind the USA, Monday is just beginning!
