Sumatran orangutan sisters Emma and Subis are, unusually, due to give birth at the same time, after male Puluh got them both pregnant. When Emma appears one morning with her new baby, it seems that Subis is going into labour. But after 24 hours of no progress, she is rushed to the vet for a possible caesarean section. What happens next is highly unexpected and shocks the team. Two-horned chameleon Ruby arrived at Chester after being transported illegally by pet traders and seized at customs. The zoo wants to breed her to help preserve the species, and Charles and Eddie are the two candidates. But chameleons are notoriously picky about mates, and Charles and Eddie will have to display themselves in front of each other to get Ruby in the mood.

The new run continues. African painted dogs K'mana and Ville were thrown together as a breeding couple after the dominant female died. But K'mana was never Ville's first choice as partner and still carries a limp from her battles with Ville's previous mate. Now she's pregnant with Chester Zoo's first ever litter of this rare and endangered species. It's vital that they thrive, but will the couple pull together to ensure the survival of their offspring? Okapi couple Dicky and Stuma are going through a lull in their relationship, with Stuma showing more interest in food than in Dicky's lacklustre advances. Keen to help rekindle their spark, keeper Gareth separates them in the hope that absence will make the heart grow fonder.

The new run continues. Spider monkey Kiara becomes a mum for the first time but seems more interested in hanging out with the youngsters than taking on maternal responsibilities. When Kiara's baby's tail's grip on her starts to loosen, keepers are worried that the baby is becoming weak and may fall to its death. Naked mole-rat sisters Leftie and Rightie, who are both pregnant, battle for their mum's throne. As the duelling gets more vicious, a litter of babies is born. But the babies are forgotten in the chaos, and the keepers must find a solution to the conflict. Babirusa Sausu moves from paddock to paddock to mate with Chester's various females. But when he's reintroduced to his old flame Majene, their daughter Sula puts a stop to his mating mission. Meanwhile, baby capybara Henry enjoys having the attention of all the female capybaras.
