Vu sur ARTE dans le cadre du cycle (en ligne) Aki Kaurismäki.
I would have never guessed that following an almost mute (and mentally affected) working-class young woman who keeps waiting* , being the subject of everything but never acts until a misunderstanding (mainly due to her obliviousness) "enrages" her enough to take action could be this great.
I liked to see the slow evolution depicted through smoking and some of the long takes were useful for the tension of the film but it would have been more effective with some cuts.
*Too bad what she's mainly waiting for is a male. It makes the character even dumber than she already seems to be.
Score: 8.5/10
Plaisir: 5/5
"Stupidity, cluelessness, self-delusion [and mainly] mental illness" are maybe a lot of burden to put on the same (working-class) character but it makes the film work so I won't complain.
