Synopsis : Comments of MisterCooper (editor) : "Goal : The goal of this edit was to flesh out the characters while cleaning up the muddled subtext about 'creators' and 'faith' while also clearing up anything that suggested that the Titans made humans. Notes : The thing about Faith and Religion is that it's not objective or based on any semblance of fact. It's entirely based on the subjective beliefs of the individual. This is what made the two characters of Shaw and Weyland so interesting to me. You have a faith-based scientist on the search for answers and an entitled mad man who wants to live forever, but what if they were both blinded by their faith and wishful thinking? I also found it very strange how accepting Shaw was of the Engineers being her creator. This movie definitely had some reshoots. By the end of the film, I think she'd have an entirely different opinion about the Engineers. I can't see her still believing the Titan that just tried to murder everyone and tried to flee the planet to bomb earth is still somehow linked to the birth of humanity. ADDITIONS : The film now starts with David waiting for the crew to wake up with new credits while killing time. Fixed continuity issue in the kitchen Deleted scenes with new VFX (**)removed cables Janek putting up Christmas tree Milburn finds the slugs Halloway is drunk after discovery Halloway is drunk while Shaw is watching the Engineer video Milburn smells the skin Alternate Fifield scene Story about Saudi's with Rum (Used CCTV monitor filter to semi fix the unfisnished VFX Janek scene on monitor.) Alternate Weyland scene with Vickers Alternate footage of Engineer waking up Alternate fight with Engineer ** (tightened up fight, new music) Shaw gets the buggy and talks to David about 'Those things' ** Alternate Dialog with David's head and Shaw Shaw's dialog with David is an alternate version and also cut down the lines with her believing the Engineers created humans. Instead, she asks David for her cross. David mocks her and says "Even after all this, you still believe?" she ignores it and asks David if he can pilot the ship to get where THEY came from, she wants to go to "Paradise". He says yes and she scoops him up and goes on her way. There is one rough shot of David's severed head. The matte lines kind of move around a bit when he's talking about "Earlier you called them, Gods" in that deleted scene. I may fix it in an update in the future. REMOVALS : 1. The opening with the Engineers. The audience should never know more than the characters you're watching on screen. (especially characters that are exploring) That scene did nothing but kill the suspense for the rest of the film. For example, the scene when the two scientists find the head and bring it back to life, we already know what these things look like in full now cause they decided to show them in the opening 10 seconds. (Where's the suspense?) Now the viewer discovers these oddities at the same time as the crew. 2. Removed the scene with the hieroglyphic map in the cave. 3. Removed Fifield howling"
