Janvier 2024 :
- Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production in 2024. The Mandalorian & Grogu will lead Lucasfilm's ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing Ahsoka Season 2, among those in the works. -

- All good questions and here’s what we know: Pre-strikes, Lucasfilm was intent on making season four of Mandalorian. The scripts had all been written. During the Great Hollywood Break however, things got re-evaluated, with plans shifting to the movie as the priority.
What happens to season four now is unclear. It’s definitely not a given. If the movie is a success, it could lead to next phase of Mando storytelling becoming movie sequels. Box office and fan reaction would determine that.
[...] Favreau is not only directing the feature but, according to sources, is also writing the script with Filoni. -

Janvier 2024 :
- (Interview de Daisy Ridley) You’re reprising your role as Rey in a new “Star Wars” movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. How will the franchise’s first female filmmaker impact the series?
The short answer is I don’t know. I’m excited to do the job, but not because Sharmeen is a woman. Her documentaries are amazing. Her idea for the story is cool as shit. No spoilers, but she gave me a rundown of the entire story. If it weren’t amazing, I would have been like, “OK, call me in five years.” But it’s worthwhile.

Will it be weird to make a “Star Wars” movie without your co-stars, Adam Driver, John Boyega or Oscar Isaac?
No, because I don’t know what is what or who is who [in the new movie]. So much has happened for me [since the Skywalker saga]. I feel like a grown-up now. When I first started, I was, like, 20. I was the youngest on set. It took me the first two “Star Wars” films to feel worthy of being there. Now I’m in my 30s. The whole thing feels quite different. I’ve been able to work with other filmmakers, and hopefully, I’ve got better as a performer. -

- "The crawl's coming back," she tells EW. But what she said next is even more interesting. When asked if the crawl would be returning only for the Rey film, Kennedy was equally direct. "No. The crawl is for movies."
[...]
Addressing the Mangold-directed project, Kennedy says, "We've been talking a lot about going well into the past, and one of the things that's really knitting this all together, obviously, are the Jedi. What happened with the Jedi over time? How did the Jedi evolve? They were wiped out with Order 66. Then they gradually have been coming back." According to Kennedy, the themes in the past will also link to those in the future: "The question we're going to ask with the New Jedi Order and Rey is, does the galaxy need them anymore? Do they want them back? So there's a lot of food for thought in what we're doing, whether it's in the past, present, or future." -

The third film, from Filoni, seems to be an Avengers-style meetup of characters from The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew, but Kennedy hints that it may be more than that.

"I hesitate to say it's a big meetup from just those [series]," says the Lucasfilm president, "because Dave has been developing Star Wars storytelling inside Clone Wars and Rebels and so much of the work he has done for 20 years. So it will be little bits of all of that. There are a lot of sources he's drawing from to see where we're going." -

- “Culmination is an interesting word,” teases Filoni, speaking to Empire at Star Wars Celebration. “The way I look at it, there are [small] stories, and then there’s the big story of the day, too. A New Hope, Empire and Return Of The Jedi tell the important parts of the tale that really define the history of the period. There are all kinds of sub-stories underneath that. We’ve been building all these small stories.” If the Disney+ series have allowed time to establish these characters and the New Republic era they inhabit, the movie is all about creating a bigger picture. “To me, a theatrical experience has to have a big idea – a monumental moment in the time period that changes what’s happening,” says Filoni. “What Tony [Gilroy] has done [in Andor] and what we did in Rebels, everything then changes when Luke blows up the Death Star. You’re looking for those moments that define an era, and that’s what the films really should be about – whether it’s characters coming together, or a defining moment.” [...] “There are little things along the way that I’ve built across different mediums, all in preparation for things that come later,” promises Filoni. -

Janvier 2024 :
- Sources say that Filoni’s own movie is still on trac at this point, although it is due to come after season two of Ahsoka, whenever that will be. -
