Great sustainable projects presented by the USA at the 2010 Architecture Biennale in Venice...
Official Catalog of the American Pavilion at the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale, "Workbook" presents the general concept of the exhibition and the various individual projects presented. Jonathan D. Solomon explains the "Workshopping the American City" research axis, and the genesis of this architectural model. Examples by Archeworks, cityLAB, Hood Design Studio and MOS are given in-depth presentations, while the "natural" approaches defended by Guy Nordenson, Catherine Seavitt, Architecture Research Office, LSU Coastal Sustainability Studio and Anthony Fontenot are assembled in one strong chapter. The John Portman & Associates presentation is a little bit disappointing, being somewhat too corporate... The final chapter by Terreform is amazing. Rich illustrations and photographs make this book an excellent complement to the exhibition itself, and a worthwhile reading on its own.
