''Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems'' figure sur le cinquième album studio de Del Rey. Lana a déclaré qu'elle pensait avoir terminé l'album avant de décider d'y inclure une femme. C'est en discutant avec son producteur de longue date, Rick Nowels, qu'ils ont tous deux eu l'idée de Stevie Nicks. La chanson devait d'abord être écrite par Nowels et Nicks à New York, avant qu'ils ne s'envolent pour Los Angeles et la finalisent avec Lana.

Le titre ''Beautiful People'' n'a été révélé que lors d'une interview pour Flaunt Magazine. Il a été confirmé qu'il s'agissait du morceau avec Stevie Nicks, puis il a été confirmé plus tard lors d'une interview après le festival KROQ Weenie Roast y Fiesta de 2017.
