Critique :

En 1978, Michael Jackson incarnait l'épouvantail dans le film ''The Wiz''. Après le tournage, il contacta le directeur musical du film pour discuter d'un éventuel album solo. Après avoir écouté des centaines de maquettes, ''Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough'' fut sélectionné, parmi d'autres titres, pour composer son album ''Off the Wall''. ''Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough'' fut critiqué pour ses paroles jugées à connotation sexuelle.

Michael Jackson affirmait que le public interprétait souvent mal la chanson, expliquant qu'elle parlait de ne jamais abandonner, quel que soit son rêve. À cette époque, son rêve était peut-être de réussir en solo. Et il réussit. Michael Jackson remporta son premier Grammy Award pour cette chanson, dans la catégorie Meilleure performance vocale R&B masculine. C'était son premier numéro un depuis ''Ben'' en 1972.
