Critique :

''I Just Can’t Stop Loving You'' est une ballade douce et sensuelle qui exprime l’attachement profond et l’engouement souvent associés au coup de foudre.

Premier single extrait de l’album Bad, il fut le premier des cinq singles de cet album à se classer numéro un, atteignant la première place des classements Billboard Hot 100, Adult Contemporary et R&B.

Michael avait initialement souhaité que Whitney Houston ou Barbara Streisand participent au titre, mais elles ont décliné l’offre.

Siedah ignorait totalement qu'elle était pressentie pour figurer sur le morceau, affirmant l'avoir appris par surprise en se rendant à ce qu'elle pensait être une session d'enregistrement de ''Man In The Mirror'' :

…on avait fini avec les chœurs et tout le reste, les voix pour « Man in the Mirror », et puis deux jours plus tard, on était de retour en studio. Je pensais qu’on allait retravailler ce morceau, mais ce n’était pas celui qu’on passait, alors j’ai décidé de me détendre. Je tricotais, et Quincy me parlait par-dessus son épaule : « Tu aimes bien ce morceau ? » Je levais les yeux au ciel et je répondais : « Oui, oui, il est sympa. » Il me demanda : ''Tu peux le chanter ?'' Je disais : ''Oui.'' Alors j’ai posé mon tricot et je suis entrée dans la cabine. J’ai entendu Quincy dire : ''Siedah, va dans la cabine vocale. Michael, viens avec Siedah.'' Michael me suivait. J’entrai dans la cabine et je vis deux pieds de micro, deux pupitres et deux feuilles de paroles. Et sur les paroles que je lisais, il y avait écrit : ''I Just Can’t Stop Loving You'', Michael, Siedah, Michael, Siedah. Et là, Michel, c’est à ce moment-là que j’ai réalisé : ''Mon Dieu, je fais un duo avec le roi de la pop ! Seigneur, ayez pitié ! Au secours, Jésus !'' Mais il était tellement cool, c’était vraiment rafraîchissant.

Siedah a révélé que Michael s'était beaucoup amusé pendant les séances d'enregistrement, faisant souvent preuve de son côté humoristique.

Pendant l'enregistrement de notre duo ''I Just Can’t Stop Loving You'' en studio, Michael a enregistré sa partie, mais quand ce fut mon tour de chanter mes couplets, il a commencé à me jeter du pop-corn au visage pour me déstabiliser. Le producteur Quincy Jones, ne voyant rien, a commencé à me réprimander pour mes erreurs. Michael, lui, était plié de rire !
