Critique :

Quatrième titre de l'album de Mariah Carey, "Someday" est le premier morceau rythmé. Ce titre dance-pop, new jack swing et R&B dure quatre minutes et six secondes. "Someday" est en 4/4 et en mi majeur. Les paroles évoquent la joie de Carey à attendre que le karma s'abatte sur son ex-petit ami qui l'a larguée, comme en témoignent les paroles :

Cause I know you'll soon discover / you're needing me in spite of all the others .

Le critique Gary Crossing du Record Mirror a trouvé que la voix de Carey rappelait celle de la chanteuse américaine Madonna sur son titre "Like a Prayer" de 1989.
