Vu en français sur TF1.
Diana's actress is the opposite of an actress... How did she even got a job in cinema? Looking like you're taking (awful) poses every now and then (or even more often) isn't acting.
This sure wasn't the war adventure of comradeship I thought it would be thanks to Batman v Superman's promotion.
Positives :
- choosing a setting that made things inherently more appealing than the usual super-heroes exploitation...
- some attempts at iconic moments...
- it goes for a relatively simple adventure tale with the usual large audience recipe of war, love & action...
- while I find the main actors bland, Chris Pine's full displaying of "blandness" fits his character and the couple is cute and works well enough (in an average romcom sort of way)
Negatives :
- ... without it really making sense.
- ... killed in the egg by Gadot's "acting" and the terribly fake look of the said scenes (especially true for the entry in the no-man's land).
- ... but can't face its amount of recycling
- nor is it better than the average title of that sort.
- the action is marred by what is considered today as the basis for action scenes (most notably, slow-motion and virtual puppets, courtesy of Zack Snyder?)
- and poor CGI.
- It's way too long for what it tells.
Some other qualities that we might see in it are coming from Snyder's previous misdeeds in the "series": this one has a semblance of a coherent story, is a bit less reliant on its poor CGI and contrasts with the tone set by its predecessors, and doesn't negate its consequences with some stupid final shot. And the music, as common as it is, is a bit of a relief after the man's films.
Score: 5/10
Enjoyment: 2/5
A working adventure film? And that's pretty much already a miracle given its origins.
PS: I can't believe I saw Saïd Taghmaoui in that kind of blockbuster.
