Synopsis · Lane Bellamy, une danseuse de fête foraine, échoue dans une ville du Sud sous la coupe du tout-puissant Titus Semple, qui voit d'un mauvais œil sa liaison avec son adjoint Carlisle. Il le jette dans les bras d'une jeune fille de la bonne société et compromet Lane dans un coup monté. Sortie de prison, Lane revient en ville, bien décidée à se venger.
