Somebody Somewhere is a very good "comfort show," in the way that you can just watch a few episodes to unwind. Because one of its many EPs are Jay and Mark Duplass, you're going to get their special touch on this show, and it shows. This means beautiful scenery, but it also means a formula that's oddly familiar if you've seen Togetherness, Tangerine, The One I Love, etc. It's not bad, but it's nothing you haven't seen from them, and will probably annoy you if you dislike their other work.
What makes this show great is the cast; Bridget Everett, Jeff Hiller, and Murray Hill do such an amazing job of showing the struggles of navigating the queer world of the US Great Plains. It sounds funny to say, but I've seen this concept of a show where a non-traditional character looks like a fish out of water in somewhere like this, but this cast somehow makes it look like they are Nebraska through and through despite situations that make them look not normal in comparison.
