In the United States and Canada, the history of its antisemitism pre-WWII is washed over in classrooms because it doesn't quite fit the hero narrative (Henry Ford has entered the chat). Philip Roth does a good job in the book of illustrating the division across the country when it came to how Jewish Americans were treated. The show did a great job of adapting that and conveying that clearly in the show, but somehow still falls flat. There were episodes that were stretched out for no reason, and I would have instead liked to see this as a 5 or even 4-part series.
