Voyage musical dans le passé. Ne pas bouder le plaisir de la découverte juste parce que c'est l'avis

Déjà, le titre original anglais, c'est "Les 1001 albums que vous devriez écouté avant de mourir".

Le titre est volontairement un peu provocateur, pour être accrocheur, mais pas tant que ça.
Pas plus que toutes les listes de top dont les internautes sont si friands.
Y a des gens qui font un gros blocage sur le titre, je trouve ça bizarre.

Bien sûr que l'auteur n'a pas rajouté "selon moi", mais n'importe qui avec un brin de jugeote s'en doute. Bien sûr qu'il n'a pas précisé "musiques principalement américaines", comme référentiel, mais on s'en doute aussi, un mec qui vit en Océanie n'aurait pas la même vision, ne serait pas dans le même bain.
Est-ce qu'on pose autant de question quand on voit un florilège sur internet? Les gens sont un peu schizos...

Evidemment qu'il faut faire un choix, que le choix est toujours, et ce par définition, subjectif, qu'il va y avoir des gens pas contents parce qu'on a oublié tel ou tel album, et qu'on a mis celui-là qu'ils n'aiment vraiment pas.
Mais dans ce cas-là, on ne fait plus rien du tout, si on n'a peur de ne pas plaire à absolument tout le monde sur la terre. Ou on fait des merdes consensuelles, sans y mettre rien du tout de soi, au choix.

Adieu les dictionnaires raisonnés, les morceaux choisis de la littérature, les œuvres marquantes de la peinture française, et les divers florilèges qui n'ont jamais été écrit.

Ce livre est intéressant, parce que, ne vous en déplaise, il est écrit pas quelqu'un qui a un peu plus de culture musicale que la plupart d'entre nous. Ceci n'est pas un argument d'autorité ni un gage de qualité, seulement c'est intéressant de questionner ses choix.
Si tel ou tel album a été choisi, en principe, ce n'est même pas parce que l'auteur les aiment, il a très bien pu inclure certains qui n'étaient pas de son goût ou de son style, mais dont il pense qu'ils ont marqué un tournant dans l'histoire de la musique.
Oui, c'est subjectif, et alors?
Tu as une méthode scientifique de mesurer ça, toi?

Quelques soient le degré de mélomanie, je suis certaine que la majorité des lecteurs trouveront des titres dont ils n'ont jamais entendu parler. Ce qui est le but: amener les gens à découvrir des albums marquants, qui ont fait parler d'eux en leur temps, et qu'ils ne connaissent pas.
En définitive, on s'en fout de savoir s'il a raison ou tort dans ses choix, c'est pas l'objet du livre (il n'a pas dit "les meilleurs, les seuls qui comptent..."), il faut s'en servir comme d'un outil de découvertes, et une occasion rêvée pour approfondir sa culture musicale.

C'est le genre de livre qu'on met, comme ouvrage de référence dans sa bibliothèque, en amoureux de la musique et pour rendre hommage à tant d'album devenus "culte", comme une histoire (forcément partielle) de la musique, juste dommage qu'ils ne fassent pas partie esthétiquement des "beaux livres" comme ceux qui traitent de l'histoire de l'art.

L'approche chronologique est très intéressante, replaçant dans une époque un album marquant.
