Avant-première en salle.

A "sung film". By Carax.

With a thin story, as expected, serving as an excuse for ugly / pretty CGI and puppet work, it's a show made of a few moments of "cinema". But in a quantity that seems quite low for Carax, thanks to the duration*. It's very long for something so simple.
Still, the interesting background speech about art is interesting coming from this director.

The three actors (especially the two stars) do well enough given what kind of film it is. Some songs from Driver are nice (my favourite might be the one at the court), but often sound like each other.

Score: 5?6/10
Enjoyment: 3/5
Being "busy"/disturbed for most of the film, a rewatch in better conditions would be a good thing.

The "conductor friend" had a nose and a voice almost exactly like some guy on The Big Bang Theory. (edit: oh, it's him. Good job.)

*Mauvais Sang had the same problem but didn't ignore it so blatantly by stretching itself toward 3 hours.

Notes:
The thanks segment in the ending credits was quite big, starting with Carax thanking several classic directors (some from wich he borrowed a few movie clips) and ending with Adam Driver thanking exclusively a single person... Chris Rock??

Was Cotillard character, an opera actress, "good at dying" (on stage) a joke?
